Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check coolant levels' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check coolant levels' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The heat only seems to creep up a little (and it is only a little - it's not getting to the 100 so maybe only a 5 increase) when stationery so will definitely check the fans.

When I was using for casual use the water temperature used to sit in the middle between 80 and 100 (90) when the car was warm.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All
Hace recently started using the 996 as a daily commuter so am currently noticing things that I hadn't before.
When I was using for casual use the water temperature used to sit in the middle between 80 and 100 (90) when the car was warm.
However have noticed over the last few days that it is creeping closer to 100 (95).
Difference is that the temperature has been warm (am in London) and it's been sitting in more standing traffic during the commute.
Do I need to worry / keep an eye on this or in your humble opinions is this normal given the traffic and temperature?
Weird!! - I noticed exactly the same at the weekend!!
I think the ambient temp is to blame here and I don't think it's anything serious, but I am keeping my eye on it...
In my 996 c4 with normal outside temperatures the needle is right middle the middle of the Zero on 80. In in stop start traffic this weekend when it was around 28'c the needle went just past the Zero on 80 - so minimal difference. Have you checked the coolant levels?
So checked coolant level this morning and there was coolant in the expansion tank but not quite up to the Min line so topped it up.
The heat only seems to creep up a little (and it is only a little - it's not getting to the 100 so maybe only a 5 increase) when stationery so will definitely check the fans.
So have an upate. My other half has taken the car out and she just called me to say that the temperature warning light was flashing but the needle is pointing in the 80 to 90 area so not showing overheating and she said the car isn't smelling warm.
Is the light an indication of a fan issue then?
So having searched I found this:
Four functions of the coolant warning light:
1. Engine coolant level too low -- light flashes slowly (0.5 Hz)
2. Engine compartment temperature too high -- light flashes slowly (0.5 Hz) (engine compartment blower might be faulty)
3. Engine coolant temperature too high -- light is lit; pointer on the right
4. Temperature sensor at water outlet faulty -- light flashes rapidly (1 Hz) ; pointer on the right
As she stated the light was flashing slowly looks like I either have a coolant leak or a engine compartment blower problem. Will check tonight.
