Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Check graph' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check graph' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I wonder how the standard car drives (including the standard X50) compared to my DMS. I did drive a few when I was looking of course, but did not red line them. My car seems to accelerate faster and faster until it hits the limiter. There is no dropping off of boost whatsoever. Do the standard cars do the same? I keep waiting for the boost to drop signalling I should shift up then, bam, rev limiter. I'm not complaining - it's insane - but it makes timing upshifts tricky as the last thing I have time to do is watch the rev counter...
Naill, The optimum revs on a turbo for shifting is approx 5500 rpm (as this is where the torque curve drops off), there is really no need to red line these like you would an N/A car
In a standard car perhaps - what I'm saying is the DMS remap alters things. Why would you short shift at 5500 when the power is still increasing? It feels like it needs another 1000 rpm.
I get what your saying, but can't believe bouncing off the limiter is the most efficient time to shift, so my question would be to DMS or who ever mapped your car in terms of what rpm is peak torque
[ quote = ' Niall McMahon "] In a standard car perhaps - what 'm saying is remap To The DMS things old. Why Would You shift short at 5500 when the quiet Power is increasing? It feels like it needs another at 1000 rpm [/ quote]
My GT2 runs 1.3 / 4 bar of boost and a host of other goodies. Having used it in anger at times I would not dream of taking it beyond 5.5k for the reasons outlined previously. If a timing chain lets go near the red line your Turbo engine is toast.
Start your upshift at 4.5K rpm
By 5/5.5k rpm its all over in terms of torque .... std or not. You get more by upshifting before the redline ...... esp in a DMS tuned car : thumb :
Just give it a try and see

Check the graph near the bottom for the 996 TT. You will see that by 5/5.5k the TT is spent.
The DMS will be faster across the same range but ambient air temp, volumetric air intake and the intercoolers often restrict the TT near the redline.
Fitting bigger IC's and modifing the throat sizes in the intake helps a bit but its a lot of money for a small gain. A few have been modded to slightly improve torque and power at max RPM but it costs a fortune and the engines don't last that long between re-builds.
Ok wizard, understood. I have started shifting at around 5500 and it is better - right in the heart of the torque band in the next gear. Nice. Easy gear shift too as I have been struggling with the short throw, especially 2nd to 3rd. Thanks.
