Hi, I fitted the Eibach Pro kit along with some spacers a couple of weeks ago, 30mm drop and am very pleased with the new look.

I do however want to get a sense of different ride heights, non-stock suspension & any other changes before spending 4k.

Agreed most seem fine with most mods but the super cheapies like LV seem to run scared of them .

Seems insurance companies do not like anyone altering something as critical as suspension set ups.

It will always be a compromise compared to proper coil-overs mind, as the damper is already using 30mm more of its travel before it even has to do anything, but it will get you away and give you the look you want.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience of using lowering springs with the objective of achieving a lowered ride height?
I believe there are many options on the market, H&R / Eibach / DesignTek etc
Many thanks
I'm unsure of the others but you'll be fine with either Eibach or H&R springs
I've had both Eibach and H&R springs on previous cars and have had Eibach springs on my 996 for a couple of years now, much improved handling and no ride harshness :thumb:
with Eibach. H&R and techart you will find the ride quality almost stock infact maybe even better as its no more harsh but more planted in corners and braking accelarating etc. . have a look at what ride hight you want as they all lower slightly different heights . personally I would stick to those three and avoid the lesser known brands as some are not good and even continue to drop over time . :thumb:
Thanks chaps.
I am considering a long term plan with a set of Ohlins Coilovers for my 02 996t.
I do however want to get a sense of different ride heights, non-stock suspension & any other changes before spending 4k.
Having had the car inspected last week, all other suspension components are in good condition. Am veering towards Eibach / H&R...
Don't do it, you'll disappear through a hedge as a fireball.
..just joking.
As said, stick to the known brands (H&R are my favourites for spring only kits)
and you'll be fine.

Ok Guys, many thanks.
Do you have any suppliers in mind?
I have managed to find the H&R springs for 996T on design911, dont appear to see a option for Eibach.
Much of a muchness i imagine....but £100 apart (H&R more expensive)
As for ride, yes...agreed. I'll accept this isn't going to be as progressive as a coilover set, but at present i'm just experimenting in prep for the long term setup!
As an in-between option the "H&R Street Performance Coil-overs" are great value. Been running them for about 18 months no issue. Did get some supporting parts to assist with install but overall really happy. Only height adjustable though which suited me as i needed the drop to be spot on.

Just a side note on spring lowering kits etc. My mate bought a VW transporter and set about doing some upgrades, wheels and tyres were the first thing then a new front spoiler.
He then decided to fit coil overs to lower the ride by a few inches, which he did.
It was only after doing this that he decided to let the
insurance
company know that he'd made some subtle changes to his car. He called them and they were fine with the spoiler and wheels and tyres provided they were the right spec tyres but as soon as he mentioned lowering and that he'd actually gone ahead and done it, they cancelled his policy with immediate effect and refunded his money.
He then had to phone around to get a company that would cover him, which he did after 5 attempts, it also ended up costing him 60% more than his previous insurance policy.
Seems insurance companies do not like anyone altering something as critical as suspension set ups.
So...it appears as though H&R are the only option (perhaps also designated i seem to remember) for 4wd cars.
Mine being a 996t, looks as though i'll have to go with H&R
Now i just ned someone to swap them ....
