Ok, spoke to both Silver-Star Porsche in Roslyn, NY and Autosport Designs in Mineola, NY. Both want $450.00 + Tax for the Evo exhaust install on a 2002 996tt. To me, this is too expensive. They estimate 4-5 hours of labor when everyone says 2 hours at most. Can anyone recommend another shop to do the install within a 25 mile radius of Great Neck, NY? Regards, Dan

I have been told by my local Porsche dealer that they can spend an hour fiddling with the exhaust tips to get them centered and even in the bumper openings, so that gets you to 3 hours. They usually say 3-4 hours FWIW.

I can swap them in just over an hour, and I don't do it for a living. I have done it 7-8 times, while experimenting with some exhausts. Tips on the TT are self-centering and easier to deal with then the 996 NA. If they tell you they are removing the bumper or dropping the engine, go somewhere else. With basic tools and a set of jack stands, anyone can do it in a couple of hours. Good way to get in touch with your car. Should not be more then 2 hrs. Labor according to the manuals is 1.6 hrs. warrenty, 2.0 Standard.

I installed my own dual tips in 10 minutes, perfectly centered. It's always funny how some Porsche dealers make up stories to backup their excessive installation time requirements. My dealership does the same thing and turns flush red when I catch them in their lies. Regards, Dan
