Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The only prblem I see with a car with ultra-low mileage is that it has not been run enough to bring any of the bugs out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've decided to go with the 996 cab and am looking to price the market. From what I have seen both dealers and or indpendent shops a 1999 cab tiptronic with a bunch of options runs around $57k to $65k depending on C2 vs C4 and mileage (5k miles to 35k miles) obviously i want a low mileage car, I wont do more than 10k in a year. From everything I have been reading they say now is a buyers market. How hard should I push sellers? Take $5k off, $2.5k? I am pretty flexibile with colors (silver, red and speed yellow are preferred over black or white, not looking for any greens, blues, topaz, etc). one other thing, is their the concept of a "too low" mileage car? I remember when I was following the 928 market closely, a 94 or 95 GTS came up for sale with 85 miles this past year. Yea, thats great and all, but basically you've had a car sitting and rotting for X years. Should cars be driven a minumum amount per yer to avoid atrophy? thanks again for your help Art

POST 2Original post

My .02. There is no such thing as a too low bid. 2.5k, 5k, 10k.....off the asking, hey, if you won't ask, you won't get. They can always say "no, than you", and you can always come back with a higher offer or try another car. The key is to not get hooked on to a specific car, so that when you say take it or leave it, you are not bluffing. The only prblem I see with a car with ultra-low mileage is that it has not been run enough to bring any of the bugs out. Unless you get an extended warrantee, by the time the bugs do show up under your ownership, if any, the car is out of warrantee. They don't, per se, "rot". Good luck, have fun test driving and haggling!!

POST 3Original post

Its with out question a buyer's market...I got my 2000 cab with good options for 58500 USD. It had 8000 kms..about 5000 miles... Play hard ball they can only say no! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

POST 4Original post

Unless it is a late build '99 with some warranty left, why don't you focus on the '00 model....Also the tiptronic is a hard sell, i.e. put a $5000 discount in your offer for a TIP, even though you want it....I like to see a car that has been driven around 4 to 5 thousand miles per year Good Luck
