I recently purchased a 2006 CS Tip with 62k miles. Car had a 500 mile / 15 day warranty. When test driving the car I hadn't noticed any anomalies pertaining to running through the gears in moderate conditions. After driving the car for a few days (350 miles) I noticed a shift flare that was happening between 2nd and 3rd gear. The shift would begin, then the rpms would go up about 300 for about a half second duration then 3rd gear would engage. I immediately took to the forums and was hearing more and more about torque converter issues with the tip. Long story short, took it in for service while still under it's short warranty and the dealership fixed the problem by resetting the control module. It now shifts like a dream and I'm a happy camper. The tech said that the tip had adapted to the original owner's driving habits. Anyway...we'll see how it does over the
next
few hundred miles. The dealer stated that they would cover the torque converter should the problem raise it's ugly head again.
This car is my wife's daily driver and she absolutely loves it. Happy to be in the
Porsche
club!

Update
Well...it turns out that the programing fix didn't "fix" the issue with the shift flare between second and third gears. So, back to the dealership to determine exactly what is going on with my tip.
I bought this car from a high end pre-owned dealer in Scottsdale, AZ that does have a good repair facility but they don't specialize in transmissions. They are sending the car to the local
Porsche
dealership for a complete diagnosis and a repair of their findings. Looks like we'll be without our new (to us) toy for quite some time but in the end, I'll have a
Porsche
certified repair on the trans. My dealership has given me a BMW SUV as a loaner car to use for the entire time it takes to complete the repair. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well!
