Suggestion

I have seen a post on here where the person asks the same exact question but then add that they are using a CTEK3000 and then the entire thread is about how great that is and just use the cigarette lighter option, essentially missing the original question posed and turning into a pro CTEK3000 thread.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey everyone. I want to find a good place to connect the negative ground cable of a battery charger on my 2009 Cayman S. As you probably know, these should go to "the chassis" and specifically not to sheet metal, plastic, or any part of the car connected to electric currents. I have seen a post on here where the person asks the same exact question but then add that they are using a CTEK3000 and then the entire thread is about how great that is and just use the cigarette lighter option, essentially missing the original question posed and turning into a pro CTEK3000 thread. lol. I do not have that CTEK one, I have a Viking model that cannot be returned without a restocking fee. So, basically, without telling me to go get a better charger/maintainer, does anyone know where to clamp on the negative cable to a part of the chassis that is reachable in the battery compartment in my frunk? Really appreciate it. David

POST 2Original post

If possible, best practice would be to go directly to the battery negative post, it can be integrated into the post clamp fastener or otherwise engineered. The negative cable can be visually traced you may find alternate places to tap without changing the OEM hardware that will provide suitable chassis ground.

POST 3Original post

Thank you. That's what I figured would be okay but the Viking 63350 manual (unit I have) said to ground if the terminal in the car is grounded. So I figured I better ask. Much appreciated!
