Hi all
Just joined in from Singapore.
I hope this qualifies as an introduction post.
Owned my 987.2S coming to a year now. Still having a blast with it. Just placed an order with softronics. Hope I won't be disappointed.
Cheerios
Congrats. I just joined today. Six months ago I got a 2006 CS Manual.
Next to the PIE.
Welcome.. Glad you could make it.
Enjoy the site
Looks like when borders are fully opened, we can have a mini 987 drive up north.
Can't wait for borders to open. Just home the new developments dont derail that. We could arrange for a drive up.
Welcome to P-9, from your neighbour up north. Did you guys see the recent video of this guy aquaplaning his
Cayman
on the highway? Be careful, it's monsoon season and the roads can be tricky.
Holy crap. I hope the driver is ok.
Hi Muggles.... Selamat Datang...no official intro is complete without more pics of the car!
Happy to oblige bro. When borders opening up? 😭
I like the stance of your car. Looks like the rear is slightly lower than the front, which is a good idea as it puts more wt on the rear wheels. Looking at the space under the top of fender wells to the tire.
hi Muggles, nice lowered car.... what suspension are you running?
and any plans for the car?
Can you guys start to drive over already?
Hey there. They are on ohlins. Installed by the previous owner. Right now borders still closed between our neighbours unfortunately.
That setup looks like my autocross setup, except you are using 19 in wheels/tires vs 18 on mine and a Wavetrac LSD to put the limited power down.
Nice - have heard good things about Ohlins...whats your experience like?
Honestly I don't have enough variety experience to comment. From a personal perspective I find them harsh for SG urban roads but I do like them still.
Just unscrew the golden knob to 20 clicks from full stiff. You can google Ohlins for the instruction manual on how to adjust the compression/rebound. That setting is the max soft for daily work over rough roads. I use 17 clicks from full stiff. Autocross on a smooth track I use 2 clicks f 3 clicks r from full stiff. On a smooth track with bumps, 4f 6r. Muggles, find a spot where these is not oil on the ground and on each corner go find the golden knob. In front, turn the wheels to lock one way, then reach behind the wheel and turn the knob clockwise until it stops, then back it our 20 clicks. In the rear, the knob is just above the rubber billows for the sliding joint in the half shaft. Could be a tight fit, so I use my thumb to turn the knob.
Give it a try, I think you will be amazed at the difference. The 19' tires with a 35 ratio side wall have stiff side walls, so that has to be overcome by the shocks as well. I use a low tire pressure to soften the ride. This only works or my Potenze RE71R's with very stiff side walls, not so much on the Michelin PS4's. Manufactures do not like people like me suggesting this as it reduces the load carrying ability of the tire. But at 3000 lbs, thats about 750 lbs per tire, you are not going to damage the sidewalls unless you use extreme low pressure tire pressure your nannies wiill go nuts telling you have a flat tires. The car is setup for 36 lbs r and 32 f. pressures lower than that will cause a warning light on the dash.
Below, find the lower silver Ohlin shock barrel sticking out of the hub carrier. You can bearly see the golden knob in the middle of the shock barrel. I use my car on the road, so its not spotless.
Wow thanks so much for the details. I need some time to digest this but i really appreciate this!
