As the lead in states...my 2010
Cayman S
just turned 200,000 miles. It's my daily driver and rarely misses a beat. I wouldn't have made it this far without BGB Motorsports maintaining my car on a regular basis. John Tecce and the BGB crew are the best around. Absolutely no question. They are honest, ethical and possess an extraordinary level of competence.
I know that it all started with Porsche engineering, but it's BGB that keeps it going, and going, and going...better and better and better.
Now to look ahead to 250K, one mile at a time.
that is awesome What major work has been done - water pump ? clutch? Just curious
Sorry that I didn't mention it's a
PDK
. The only major problem was that the air box part of the heat/air ventilation system had to be totally replaced. It started blowing oily type pieces of black foam out of the air vents due to it breaking down. The old box showed that the stuff was peeling away from the chamber, flaps etc. Something that I have no desire to breathe. The pieces I saw were bad enough. The microscopic particles were my main worry. I'm sure that my car can't be the only one. Perhaps being a Florida car from day one, didn't help.
Fantastic.... i'm only 50k behind you... think it's fair to say that the 987.2 series of the Cayman/Boxster is turning out to be the most robust of the lot........??
There is a website called "TrueDelta" - setup by a car enthusiast to track car repairs/breakdowns reported by owners. The '09 987 seems to be the most reliable German car on the site. It has almost no reported parts failures or breakdowns reported. It's as good as the best Japanese car. My '09 Boxster has exhibited this so far... the only "repair" needed was replacing the plastic ball-sockets on the convertible top mechanism. Cost a total of $15 and DIY.
Thanks for reporting! Im at 69k miles in my 2010 CS manual, had a
fuel pump
replacement not long ago, a bit painful. But pistons in this thing are flying, the heart itself is bulletproof, maintenance is everywhere around but make it worth it.
Keep us posted, I will too, it's my daily as well.
Cheers!
Along the last 5 years, the 2 fuel pumps needed to be replaced about 6 months apart and recently the
PDK
is acting a bit wacky. It’ll be back to BGB over 5e next week or 2.
