Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Maybe you're already doing this, but I'd keep an eye out for lightly used replacements.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Heresy . I know, but the price of Porsche seats is just beyond my retired budget. Does anyone know if VW GTI seats would fit in a 987 Cayman ? what about the electrics and connectors? Or any better ideas for seat improvements? Car has 109K on it and seats are showing signs of age and not all that comfy for long rides. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Have you thought about having your existing seats reupholstered? I’ve done that before in a non-P car and the results were fantastic. You can have the foam replaced with the firmness you want, and mix and match the colours just the way you want. It’s really just a matter of finding someone who is really good at it.

POST 3Original post

No. I figured it would be just as expensive and how to find a good reupholsterer would be an issue. Thanks for the input.

POST 4Original post

Metal Fabrication would be required to make the GTI seats fit the Porsche rails, and the wiring would require cutting and splicing at a minimum.

POST 5Original post

And I have no idea if the GTI side air bags could be made to work in the Porsche .

POST 6Original post

Thank you. I guess that settles that. Looks like reupholstery or start saving my pennies. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

POST 9Original post

Another option would be to replace the covers www.lseat.com is the ones I'm going to try. I haven't yet ordered a sample but will be. Cheers, Julian

POST 11Original post

Thanks. I want to add some more foam and cushioning so just covers won't do what I'm looking for. I appreciate the thought and you taking the time to share it. Thanks

POST 12Original post

Let us know what you come up with, Pictures would be helpful. More bolstering would really be good, I looked at GT2 seats on Bring your trailer last year as these sets actually have active side impact air bags that plug into the Cayman setup including the pressure web for the passenger seat. They sold for $7800. The side impact bags are really necessary as the aftermarket ones do not have these. Makes your work very important as they will retain this feature. Cantrell Motor Sports said they had a vendor that could modify the seats for 6 seat belt setup including holes under your crotch for 2 belts and two holes above your shoulders for the upper belts. Mine did not work because of my shoulders were too high. The GT2 seats have a really tall back with two large shoulder openings, On regular seats, the backs simply not designed for these belt holes. They, belt holes, also have be be above your shoulders, so you do not crush you shoulders in a violent upside down event allowing the lower belts to stop your body rather than the shoulder belts.

POST 13Original post

Thank you. That price is way past my retired budget. About now I'm thinking I will just have to live with what I have and be glad it's still a PORSCHE ! Thanks again

POST 14Original post

Lets also remember that there were 3 seat options for the 987, normal, sport and adaptive sport. If you've got the garage space I'm going to selfishly suggest you buy a "parts car" from insurance auction that has the seats/interior you want and part out the rest (1st dibs to me because I suggested it

POST 15Original post

Thanks. No I do not have the space nor the money to do that. I was not aware of three seat choices. Thank you for your sharing your knowledge and thoughts.
