Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You will have to pay extra for this brand, but it will help protect your motor and change it every 4000 miles to help prevent bore scoring, Also tell the technician to not over fill, so after 8 qts, check the oil gauge.

Also used the parking deck on campus (NCSU) for oil changes / brake jobs.

In my experiences, there were times a vehicle in for something simple would end up tying up a lift for much longer than anticipated before the repair began when something unexpected took place.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I pay almost what I pay at a dealership, but I now have a place that has worked on my 928 and 981s.
Hey everyone! I hope everyone's doing OK and enjoying their Porsche experience
I know I am! My

and I recently moved to Raleigh, NC from Hampton Roads, VA and now, I don't have anywhere to change my oil! I used to do it myself at the DIY garage in VA Beach, but there doesn't seem to be a place in the STATE that allows you to do your own oil changes.. Does anyone know of a DIY garage in NC where I can do the oil change myself or somewhere that won't beat me over the head with some outrageous price? Thank you and hope you all have a wonderful new year!
It's a really neat concept, a place where you can go to do automotive work and they help, provide tools, etc.

<-- The one I used to go to.
In my experiences, there were times a vehicle in for something simple would end up tying up a lift for much longer than anticipated before the repair began when something unexpected took place. The insurance for "rent a rack" must be stupid, I'm surprised such businesses can survive at all. Maybe the real business opportunity is for a retired master mechanic to hang around with some coffee awaiting the inevitable wrestling "tag team" hand slap into the ring of disassembly and strewn parts.
Well... There was one on Western Blvd near US 1 in 1982. You could rent by the hour. Also used the parking deck on campus (NCSU) for oil changes / brake jobs.
For oil disposal, just follow a Prius driver home and dump there. Just kidding. Cary has used motor pickup for no charge. Raleigh might have that too. You can also use the county waste disposal site in Apex.
But back to your issue. Maybe search in/near the Sanford area. Could try the parking lot at one of the larger malls. I've seen people working on cars in the Walmart parking lot. Just pick a low crime area or 'dress' appropriately.
Interesting. It was my understanding that all major parts stores (Autozone, Advanced Auto, Napa, Oreilly, etc) do this because it's a law. I guess it may not be federal, but it is a good thing. Certainly most of them do, at least in my area (CT, MA, NH, NY). Their websites say they do as well, so I imagine they offer it nationally... assuming you have one of them, of course.
Jiffy Lub, Specify Pennzoil Ultra 5W40. You will have to pay extra for this brand, but it will help protect your motor and change it every 4000 miles to help prevent bore scoring, Also tell the technician to not over fill, so after 8 qts, check the oil gauge. If its hot, this will not work as there is a timer that does not allow instant oil reading, If you let your car cool down for a hour, then measure the oil level it will work. You risk oil getting into the IMS bearing if Jiffy Lub overfills it, Have them put in 8 and 1/4 qts. Start it up, then turn it off.You can turn on the key and see the fill marks, should be 1bar above the bottom. Then carefully add another 1/4 qt. This should be about at 2 bars. What I am trying to relay is stay away from adding too much oil. ever. EVER.
Chris please read the the start of the thread as Fam ily as he does not have a garage in which to change his oil. He/s asking for your help as he is living in an apartment with only street parking. No local friends etc. I've actually done this with my son's car (BMW 330i), living is a college town, miles from home, with no garage or floor ramps and in need of an oil change. No BMW dealership as well. So, with dad's cc, and an instruction sheet to as you say "the monkeys" at Jiffy Lube, they did the job without any issues.
Hello & welcome to NC. I’m over in Cary (about 15 mins from you) and have a pair of ez lifts and a garage you can use if you want. You can buy Euro Mobil 1 at BJ’s for a fairly reasonable price. Just have a filter and drain plug gasket with you and you’re all set. Only one caveat, you let me drive your car and you drive my ‘10

I did read the beginning of the post and was trying to keep him from having any issues. I wasn’t trying to come across as an *** but I have heard to many complaints about them such as loose drain plugs and oil filters. I’ve spent to much money on my cars to have to deal with that ****. If he wasn’t so far from me he could come to my house and change it himself.
I feel bad as some neighborhoods really do not want cars being worked on in their streets. In some communities, the convenients even restrict how to *not use" your own drive way and mandate you keep your garage doors closed. So, you see where I'm coming from . I guess othes have tried to steer him to a do it your self garage, but none exist in his area. T3homas even offered to have him come use his lift. Great. He will eventually figure out which shop he is comfortable with in his area and just use that shop to have his oil changed and other stuff.
City life.
Convenient in some ways, but certainly the opposite in others.
I don't know what it is but the allure was but a brief space in my young adult life. It WAS exciting at first, but then I realized that the police helicopter hovering above at night with a spotlight on was...... Well, looking for the bad guys.
Back to the rural life my mom and dad raised me in. I finally understood why they chose the lifestyle.
As a Porsche driver it's a bonus! You are the ONLY one at Tractor Supply. Them cowboys are mostly a friendly bunch and they want a peek. My favorite thing is to open both trunks. You can guess what that leads to. 🤣
You can change your oil just about anywhere you want as long as you pick up after yourself.
I love this idea! Only problem is that my Cayman S is a 6-speed, and I can't risk someone burning up my new clutch D: If you'd like to ride along, I don't mind that
Yeah, back when I still stayed in my house I would've just did it in the backyard or took it to the DIY garage LOL City life sure has its pros and cons
Until you get your bearings - find a well reviewed local German auto shop and ask. They may do it for a reasonable amount and at the same time you have found a place to take it if a problem arises other than a dealership. I pay almost what I pay at a dealership, but I now have a place that has worked on my 928 and 981s. They give me priority and baby the car in bad weather etc. They appreciate my business and give me peace of mind. Otherwise, if you just need to save money, I agree that the way to go is to join a local PCA and make some friends! You will also get to use your car on drives etc. You are not the only

around Raleigh/Durham that is for sure. You will find a good solution. But at least for the first time - I would try a good local Indy shop.
