I'd have a look at specialised canvas cleaning and waterproofing products, they may be suitable as well (ensure they're not bleach based, they usually aren't as canvas doesn't like bleach).

I would suggest going and spending some time on one of the MX5 forums, for obvious reasons that forum has a lot of experience with ragtops and the best products for cleaning and preserving them.
