Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I recently purchased (and am awaiting delivery) of an '08 Cayman S, w/Tiptronic. The car currently sits at 46,xxx miles. Once its in my posession, I am going to change the oil/filter, air and cabin filters, spark plugs and the serpentine belt and pulleys. Does the M6 and A5 transmission cars use the same belt/pully system, or are they different? I've seen some listings state 'manual only' (Rockauto), while others don't list any difference.

POST 2Original post

FCP Euro states the Contitech 6PK2115 belt (Porsche# 996-102-151-66) fits a whole slew of 'P' cars, including your '08 Cayman. It doesn't appear to differentiate which type of transmission on their site. Sunset Porsche also lists pretty much the same line-up, with the notation 'cars with A/C' Replaces: 996-102-151-58, 996-102-151-64 Porsche Cayman 2006 Porsche Cayman S 3.4L H6 Serpentine Belt 2007 Porsche Cayman Base 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2007 Porsche Cayman S 3.4L H6 Serpentine Belt 2008 Porsche Cayman Base 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2008 Porsche Cayman S 3.4L H6 Serpentine Belt Porsche Boxster 1997 Porsche Boxster Base 2.5L H6 Serpentine Belt 1998 Porsche Boxster Base 2.5L H6 Serpentine Belt 1999 Porsche Boxster Base 2.5L H6 Serpentine Belt 2000 Porsche Boxster Roadster 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2000 Porsche Boxster Roadster S 3.2L H6 Serpentine Belt 2001 Porsche Boxster Roadster 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2001 Porsche Boxster Roadster S 3.2L H6 Serpentine Belt 2002 Porsche Boxster Roadster 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2002 Porsche Boxster Roadster S 3.2L H6 Serpentine Belt 2003 Porsche Boxster Roadster 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2003 Porsche Boxster Roadster S 3.2L H6 Serpentine Belt 2004 Porsche Boxster Base 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2004 Porsche Boxster S 3.2L H6 Serpentine Belt 2004 Porsche Boxster S Special Edition 3.2L H6 Serpentine Belt 2005 Porsche Boxster Base 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2005 Porsche Boxster S 3.2L H6 Serpentine Belt 2006 Porsche Boxster Base 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2006 Porsche Boxster S 3.2L H6 Serpentine Belt 2007 Porsche Boxster Base 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2007 Porsche Boxster S 3.4L H6 Serpentine Belt 2008 Porsche Boxster Base 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2008 Porsche Boxster Limited Edition 2.7L H6 Serpentine Belt 2008 Porsche Boxster S 3.4L H6 Serpentine Belt 2008 Porsche Boxster S Limited Edition 3.4L H6 Serpentine Belt 2008 Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder 3.4L H6 Serpentine Belt ... and ... POST 3Original post

Thanks for the info. I’m looking at a ‘kit’ that includes a belt and 3 or 4 various pulleys and tensioner. As mentioned, one supplier listed said kit (the only one they list) as ‘manual trans’. So was curious not only regarding the belt, but pulleys as well.

POST 4Original post

Probably best to call the vendor to verify you get the right parts first go-around then. Let us know what you find out. I purchased a belt for my 'roadside emergency kit', but I'd imagine I'll need to replace the idlers, etc. at some point too.

POST 6Original post

Just did the plugs and coils on my 12 CSBE and the plugs were quite crunchy during extraction. If you get a lot of resistance you might want to spray some Kroil or other penetrant into the plug bores and give it some soaking time.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
