Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Question . My passenger side rear CV boot was replaced by Porsche last month . When I got it back I parked the car in the garage and the next time I used it I noticed a leak of what I thought was engine oil on the floor . It never leaked before . I cleaned it up and two days later it’s back . I got under the car and saw the leak is coming from where the new cv joint was installed . The fluid is dripping off and landing on a little plastic shield then hitting the floor . I have put a picture in . Would you think Porsche didn’t put this in correctly ? I’ve contacted service and waiting to hear back . It’s only dripping a little but it should be nothing . Is this transmission fluid ? Can I drive the car with it like that ? Thank you for any input

POST 2Original post

I’m doing some research I’m wondering if that’s the location of the axle seal ? If that’s it and Porsche replaced the cv boot there is that something they may have damaged ? I’m wondering if I can get Porsche to pay for it seeing as they just had hat all apart down there . If they won’t does anyone have an idea of how much to replace that seal ?

POST 3Original post

You're ok driving it like that, but it shouldn't leak at all. Your dealer should step up and fix this.

POST 4Original post

So it was the axle seal . I had my import shop fix it and not the dealer . When I called the service manager at Porsche where I had the Boot replaced and asked him about it he said they wouldn’t have taken that seal out so it wasn’t something they did . When I tried to at least get a quote to compare with my import shop he wouldn’t even quote it . Said he had to look at it first . So I just brought it to my import place and had them do it . It’s so nice to have a good shop you can count on .
