Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I drove there from Manchester slowly so as not to get the car dirty (check the MPG in one of the photos below for proof of driving slowly!), wishing I had had time to put one more coat of wax on, but I needn't have worried; I was amazed how good the car looked once in the studio.
Leading evidence: 'Check mpg in one of the photos below' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check mpg in one of the photos below' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

I know next to nothing about photography but it's obviously ALL about the lighting - John the photographer was running around setting up lights, putting black cloth on the floor to create shadows in the paintwork to emphasise the lines of the car etc.

In case anyone's interested, John the photographer was telling me that Pistonheads run day-long sessions where you can take your car down to a studio, spend the morning getting tips from the photographer and the afternoon getting a few pics of your car in the studio.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This morning I went over to a studio in Derby to have my car photographed for a future 996 Buying Guide article in Practical Performance Car magazine (James from the magazine had asked for volunteers on this thread -
http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=55632
).
I drove there from Manchester slowly so as not to get the car dirty (check the MPG in one of the photos below for proof of driving slowly!), wishing I had had time to put one more coat of wax on, but I needn't have worried; I was amazed how good the car looked once in the studio. 8)
I know next to nothing about photography but it's obviously ALL about the lighting - John the photographer was running around setting up lights, putting black cloth on the floor to create shadows in the paintwork to emphasise the lines of the car etc. and some of the end results I saw on his camera looked stunning - and that's before any photoshopping. :worship:
John is going to mail me the proper photos once they're ready (I'll post them up here when I get them), and there will be a 6-page spread in a future Practical Performance Car magazine but here are some I took today at the studio. I didn't take any 'proper' ones (that was John's job!) and apologies for the quality, it was done on a cheap Sony compact...
Tell me about it; I was surprised no-one else volunteered (maybe Derby is out of the way for a lot of people, and being a Friday most of us are usually at work)!
Basically I get a copy of a great set of professional photos of my car, and my car in a 6-page spread in the magazine; it's a great selling point when I come to sell it if nothing else (and I also feel it's quite cool having my car in a magazine, but maybe that's me being a little sad
).
I'm sure you'll get a few 'fellow yellows' replying to this thread but that looks really good.
You've gotta post pics here when you get them. The lighting makes a big difference in car photos, yours looks brilliant but I am biased towards yellow a bit
I'd like to be a fly on the wall and watch these pro photographers in action and try and pick up some of these techniques myself. And you're right, lighting is everything
Thanks for the kind words guys; I'll post up the finished pics when I get them (could be a few weeks yet I think).
In case anyone's interested, John the photographer was telling me that Pistonheads run day-long sessions where you can take your car down to a studio, spend the morning getting tips from the photographer and the afternoon getting a few pics of your car in the studio. Might be worth looking into if anyone fancies it; honestly I was amazed the difference the studio / lighting made, I keep my car really clean but it's never looked as good as it did in that studio... 8)
Fantastic photos, very cool. Do put the final ones up here if you can.
...and presumably before they publish they can photoshop the colour to something less hideous?..
Just kidding, don't get all discombobulated on me!! :coat:
Maxie - sorry bud, it's not that sort of magazine (although looking at their website - ppcmag.co.uk - it could well be; maybe they photoshop the girls on afterwards).
uh:
Harry - I've asked for it to be photoshopped in a more tasteful colour combo, ideally a homage to the VW Polo Harlequin...
OK, the official pictures are back, I received a CD in the post yesterday, so here they are (sorry for the self-indulgence, but I'm pretty pleased with them!
). I've posted the low-res images as some of the proper high-res ones are 12-15Mb EACH!
The photos are all the work of John Colley Photography (
www.johncolley.com
), I assume I'm ok to post them up here but mods if I'm breaking any copyright laws let me know and take them down? :thumb:
