Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Recently picked up a 996 TT and going through all the details it would appear at its major service after 4 years the spark pugs werent done. At the 4 year mark the car had only done 18k miles (should replace plugs at 24k Major serivce or 4 years) but the owner decided not to do them...... i know its my fault for not wading through all the paperwork but you would think an OPC major service stamp would have been enough. I only know as I got hold of the service invoice and plugs werent on it !!! It not due another service for a year when the car will be at 45k miles - The question is ..how critical is it to get the plugs changed now at 34k miles ?? Is waiting a dangerous game given its 7 years old and I cant see them having been changed. My thoughts are maybe do it and no doubt it will reduce the cost of the next major service next year? or is it just been over cautious???? and the belief is they will be fine?

POST 2Original post

i would get them done as its 10k over recomendation and like you say it will also break up the service costs but as you state they should have been done at 24k
