Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Before I start pulling door cards, I thought I'd ask the brains trust here first. I was down at Phillip Island watching the Historics for the weekend. I accidentally left my glove box open last night and this morning the person in the hotel room next door said they saw the light on - disappointingly they didn't knock on my door to let me know. Glove box light wasn't on anymore and the car started, so I thought nothing of it. This afternoon I partially lowered my passenger window and it didn't go up when I tried raising it a little later, only down further! Neither switch (drivers or passenger side) raises the window, it only lowers it. Glove box light still works if switched on. Just not when opening the glove box. Could this be related, or purely coincidence? Ideas what to look at first. Fuses? Contacts on the switches? Passenger side window motor?

POST 2Original post

Given the switch on passenger and drivers doors both don't work it should rule out a faulty switch. I'd say your window reg has just given out and the helper spring can't push it because it has snapped off and likely rolling around in the bottom of the door. You can try pull the window up with your hand while using the switch where your hand acts as the helper to take the load off the motor. If that doesn't work you'd need to open the door up and have a look. Tedious job, but it's a DIY if you are fairly handy.

Thanks for the detailed reply. It doesn't come up with assistance, so looks like I'll have to open up the door.

See how you go. Could be the window motor has seized, could he the felts holding the window in tight. My window wouldn't move up and down and the felts were a large culprit.
