Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gents, I've just returned from working in Holland for 4 weeks. Fired up the porsche (which has been on the driveway) to go for a spin and the brakes were seized on. So, jacked up all four corners (individually) and freed up the pads. Tried to reverse it and still no movement :?: Anybody got advice on the next step? Thanks, Andy

POST 2Original post

It could be the rear shoes that are operated by the handbake have seized. The shoes are integral to the rear hubs. I believe that there is an adjuster that you can access through the hub when the wheel is removed. Good luck! David

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply, I'll have a look this morning. Is it fairly obvious where the adjustment can be made? Andy

POST 4Original post

It will be the hand brake shoes. If you leave the handbrake on hard for a long time the shoes seem to start start to bond in the hub, probably made more likely by hot weather. When I go away for two weeks or more Ive given up leaving the handbrake on (car in garage). Although I have to say that whilst this solves any sticking on problem I've noticed it leads to overall poor hand barke performance for a bit as i suppose they become semi siezed off! My car doesn't get used too much so not much hand brake use to keep it nice and free.

POST 5Original post

Rear wheels off, front wheels chocked, handbrake off, tap with a normal sized domestic hammer all round the flat of the rear disc (between the bolt holes) this should vibrate the hub against the shoes and free them off.

POST 6Original post

If you pop the car into first or reverse and bring the clutch up the jolt should free the shoes from the hub and they should return to their rest position. I have had it where the clutch friction plate has stuck to the flywheel too.
