Thanks for the info regarding the rear fog lamp, its much easier to run a wire across than to go to a Porsche centre and get them to do something so i will break out the soldering iron.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thanks for that - I spent ages trying to work out why the passenger side fog light didn't work.
I have just imported a 2002 Carrera 2 from Italy. I need to modify the lights to UK spec. I have a couple of problems with this that i would be most grateful to get any members help with.
1. The rear fog lamps. Both light units have good bulbs in them, both light units are fully wired but and more importantly both connectors on the loom has a power wire but only the one on the nearside comes on. There is no power to the wire in the offside loom connector (which is the one i need to operate to be UK legal) Any ideas? I was wondering if it needs my Porsche centre to plug in and do something clever in an ECU
2. Headlamps. The car has Xenons. One side is a lot more orange so i have a bulb set on order to replace all. The dipping of the lamps is confusing me. Inside each light unit there are 2 slots marked 'T' and 'O' turning the control seems to move something which i think would be the beam deflector plate. Do i need to move both controls? I thought that main beam is straight i.e no dip to one side so why 2 controls, what do they do? there is no mention of light adjustment in the owners manual. The lights also seem very low and close to the ground in front of the car. I thought that they move up/down to set a level. How is this done? Do i have a faulty leveller somewhere?
Thanks for any help from a new to 996's owner!!
:welcome:
Only one rear fog light is wired up, despite there being a wire in the loom, and a bulb in the holder. You will have to run a wire across from one side to the other.
On MY2002 Xenons there is only supposed to be one T/O adjuster for left/right traffic. The T position is for "Touring" and all it really does is cut off the flick up on one the nearside. Not sure it would be good enough to pass an MOT.
On pre-facelift Litronics there are two T/O levers on each light.
Hi,
So THATS what 'T' means! I get it now...
I agree with your thoughts regarding the kick up (or lack of it) on the light pattern but i requested the import pack from the DVLA and have downloaded the guides from the VCO website. It says that if flatline beamed lamps are fitted as standard then they can accept that. Sounds odd i know so i checked with an MOT tester and he does not have a problem either so i will be crossing my fingers and see what happens.
Thanks for the info regarding the rear fog lamp, its much easier to run a wire across than to go to a Porsche centre and get them to do something so i will break out the soldering iron.
Any ideas regarding headlamp heights?
Thanks
Thanks mate!
The diagram is much appreciated, i have a 996 manual on order from ebay but there is so much i don't know! I am itching to drive the car but its not registered yet and so i am prepping it for the MOT as quick as i can. I drove it back from Italy on borrowed trade plates - what a run! i can see what all the fuss is about now
