Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need to replace my A/C condensors, OEM part cheapest quoted is £187 each but pattern copies can be had for £137 (both inc. VAT). So a £100 difference for the pair. I figured that that whichever I use, they'll fail again due to corrosion in 4-5 yrs time so is there any point in buying OEM? Opinions?

Garry, have you purchased any condensers from these guys? What's the quality like? They don't mention any warranty on their parts.

POST 6Original post

POST 8Original post

I have a 1998 996 c2. Yep got one waiting to be fitted when I get a spare 10 minutes. Construction looks good, paint not too good but then its buried behind the bumper and scoops so i'm not bothered. Will anyone offer a warranty on a condensor without any protection located at the front of a car that can do 170mph?

POST 9Original post

I think the issue with condensors is not so much rust, but stones hitting them and perforating the tubing/ fins and causing irreparable leaks. Radiators are the bits that seem to rust if not cleared out once a year-ish.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
