Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

Maybe use WD-40 on any hinge showing signs of surface rust.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What can i say all this sunshine has got the better of me and the roof has been up and down like a yoyo. Recently though it appears to have started to get a little sticky when retracting, is it easy to relube the joints, has anyone had similar experiences.

POST 2Original post

When I do hood re-trims I always go over the hinges and joins with aerosol White Lithium grease, it makes the world of difference.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Lloyd, is it hard to get at all the hinges? there seem to be some pretty trick mechanisms particularly round the closure.

POST 4Original post

If it is "juddery" more than "sticky" then it could be the hydraulic fluid needs topping up. Mine gradually got more and more juddery last year to the point where it gave up the ghost and a quick refill of the fluid reservoir sorted it out in a jiffy.

POST 5Original post

The thing to do is do all the obvious ones that you can get to at ease. Have the roof half open, do what you can then quarter then 3 quarters. You should see a difference straight away. Maybe use WD-40 on any hinge showing signs of surface rust.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Pontypool and Lloyd, wondering re the hydraulic fluid, where is the roof reservoir? Going to have a go at it if and when it stops raining! think you may be on to something as a little juddery. Cheers guys I have to say it again, I am in awe of the knowledge that is kicking about on this forum!

POST 7Original post

Underneath the carpet that the roof folds down onto. Its a 5 min job to get at it although getting screw back in to close the reservoir again is fiddly if you don't have fingers of an 11 year old and you'll need some tubing and a syringe to get it in. See here for the instructions with photos (although they aren;t brilliant you can just about make out the allan bolt you have to undo to stick the tube in to fill. http://www.renntech.org/forums/inde...e/56-cabrio-top-hydraulic-fluid-step-by-step/ Think you may have to register on Renn Tech to gain access to this bit, but worth it.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lloyd, Attacked avery hinge and flange I could find with the White Lithiun when I was having a TLC session over the weekend and fingers crossed the problem has resolved itself, it and the rear spoiler now move with a fluid grace  Unforunately this promped a session of searching for anything else I could silicon or lithium lube! Still looks great and all appears to be working as designed!!
