I've had my 07 CS for 5 years now, without any issue or complaints...I think I've been one of the lucky ones.
Unfortunately that changed this spring with the first item of concern being the
TPMS
error codes. The sensors are original so I guess the batteries have worn out so replacement is in order this fall when I replace the
tires
.
Last month, the Thermostat started acting up, with intermittent readings of zero back to 175, several times in 10 seconds causing a fault code. I've just replaced the sensor on the front of the engine as the dealer strongly suggest this was likely this problem as it is common with Porsche, VW and
Audi
...likely even the same part used. This fix is a DIY for anyone who can hold a screwdriver....couldn't be simpler and took 2 minutes. I hope this is the fix.
The 3rd item happened tonight, as I'm putting the car on the ramp...."Faulty Oil Measuring System". Haven't seen this before. Came up just as it was 2 seconds from giving me a oil level reading. I've searched our Articles looking for any reference to this but nothing comes up.
Does anyone have any experience with this issue? And what is the fix?
Well to add to my frustration, today, the car was working fine outside of the
TPMS
error lights on the dash...untill I was leaving the office. Car started fine but no throttle response and PSM FAILURE on the dash, but no codes. The PSM button nor the
PASM
button would work, car was undriveable.
Good news is that the thermostat issue seems to be fixed with replacement of the sensor.
Any help is appreciated.
As always, thanks for our help.
Dicket:thanks:
I too have a fault code that shows up every time I start my 987 saying Failure, Oil Level Indicator that it cannot read the oil level in car. I have had this for about 2 years and dont think twice about it anymore. Paranoid that the engine would seaze up on me at first, but like everything, time heals all wounds. Had a direct oil feed added to prevent
IMS
failure a year ago to sleep at night. Have the oil changed every 3 to 5k with
Mobil 1
. Car burns very little oil, haven't tracked it yet, and occasionally I get a light with an oil can in red saying to add engine oil when refueling, and then I add 200 mls of
Mobil 1
and all is well. Better to have too little oil in car than too much told to me a few times. Had the sender unit that is supposed to measure the oil in the engine replaced 3 times, couple indy mechs think its the instrument cluster, and the latest is a faulty module that has to do with the lights and oil level readings in the fronk somewhere-by the battery they said. May be going down that road too, not sure yet. Had the locking module replaced under the drivers seat replaced as well, but that didn't fix it either. No one seems to know what it is as it could be any number of modules or other components, and seems like a never ending wild goose chase that I have learned to live with.
Well what I can add to my original post was that the sensor did fix the temperature display, again an inexpensive DIY item.
The oil sensing issue disappeared and I'm not sure why it came up or why it went away. It might have been related to the 3rd item which was the lack of throttle response. A friend of my went to the foot throttle peddle and checked the connection. Problem disappeared and hasn't come back so must have been a loose connection. I've since replaced that assembly just to make sure.
Hope that helps Mike.
