Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum but plan to visit regularly with a new 2003 996 Carrera 2 due in November.
To try and save me the runaround, has anyone found good insurance prices from reputable companies in the UK. I've made a few tentative calls and currently the best is around 1000 with 500 xs - Oh and I'm 39 ! (going on 40).
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks
Greg
personally i always bump the excess up high as i can (abt 1000-1500 pounds) - basis is that this brings the yearly cost down considerably. most scratches/dings cost mostly under 400-500 pounds which u can pay out of yr own pocket thus protect the no claims and stop premiums rising. then only claim when u have really major prang/theft which fingers crossed comes once every 7-10 years
just my angle on it and is based on not having many claims - not that i am particularly good driver - just dont do much milage and there is very little vandalism/theft here
Have you tried Privlage (0113 3991000). They were the best price for me by far. I pay 1,600 a year which sounds like a lot but I was getting quotes in the region of 3,000 from other providers.
Greg
I was impressed with the service I got from PerformanceMarque in Sutton Coldfield (Lorraine or Joanne). Its worth talking to them. 0121 248 0911.
Best of luck.
I know it sounds silly, but have you tried Tesco? I currently have a policy with them because they do allow higher excesses. I pay around 1200 with 750 excess - I am 31 and have zero NCB....unlimited mileage.
If you are considering limited mileage then I have been quoted about 800 per year up to 5000 miles with Carole Nash.
Both companies on the internet (obviously).
Christer
That sounds a great deal (Do they do 3 for 2?!!).
But it may be that the price reflects your 994 is 12 years old. Greg may find the price significantly higher for a new 996.
Regards.

I use them - "2,000 p.a. with a 750 excess, but that's with zero NCD, but an introductory discount from them anyway. I'm 35.

"Here" is Monoco??
The theft rate for Porsche (old & new) is just terrible in the U.K. It is over 10%
every year
. That means that there is a one in ten chance that your car will vanish without recovery each year.
The situation is similar in Belgium where I am thought I don't know the exact number. In one sense it is worse here as we have a lot of car-jackings.
Curious what the insurance rates are like in Monoco. Also curious about how easy it is to register cars there. I might soon need to find a new domain to register my Porsche.
