Currently every time I use the remote to unlock the car the seat position changes to suit someone who had very short arms, very long legs and liked to perch high up!

My owners handbook is still 'on order' from my local OPC so I'm hoping someone can talk me through how to reset the memory on my 2002 996C4 drivers seat.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

If the memory system is the same or similar to the 997, you should have a button with a key symbol. If so, put the key you normally use in the ignition, set the seat to the position you want, then press the "M" and "Key" buttons together. That should reset the memory function for that key. Of course, if you then use your second key, you'll probably be back to the short-ar$e settings

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Many thanks Evil C, that appears to have worked. When I unlock the car now the seat stays where I left it. What are the '1' and '2' buttons for? Whilst playing I pressed each of them and the seat adjusted each time but not to any position in which you could drive the car.

They're for putting in settings for other drivers, so you can have seperate settings for two keys plus two other drivers.

POST 6Original post

Hiya, To reset my seats I have to have the ignition on and press the "M" and button "2" for 5 seconds. To check if it has got rid off all memory lock and unlock your car and see if the seat moves? Now you are ready to set the drivers seat plus reveres side mirror if you wish

POST 7Original post

Also, if you want the passenger side mirror to tilt down when in reverse, have your car in reverse while setting the memory (pressing M + key, 1 or 2). Simply put, M+key sets memory for the key that are in the ignition (different keys may have different settings), M+1 sets memory button 1 and M+2 sets memory button 2.
