I am in the process of putting an order for a 09 cayman and have found this forum to be extremely helpful in answering many questions I had - Thanks to all. There still one choice not so clear to me (maybe because I am not so hands on in this area and might have missed the obvious). If I don't include the PCM 3.0, the "Sound Package Plus", or the "Bose" option: 1) Will this limit my options in an aftermarket amp and speakers set? 2) Does the car come with the grills on the speakers that would normally come populated with speakers when one selects Sound Package Plus or Bose. 3) Can I add an iPhone/iPod adapter. It is worth mentioning that the only thing I am interested in is the sound (no interest in GPS, big screens, etc). Dani

1) The standard reply to a newbie would be for you to use the search function and see the many posts already available. I saw a new install about a week ago on this site for the Bose system but I felt it was a waste of options $ since little of the Bose system continued to be used. 2) I would also suggest you look at the Articles in the Electronics section of forums. 3) I have always like this install that a friend did and I've seen in person. Get into the dealer with a couple of test CDs and sample the systems. Keep in mind that if you go BOSE, it's a commitment because future upgrage requires a full system gutting and re-installation. Yes, all of the speaker locations are open, grills in place and ready to accept new equipment. However, Porsche makes the wiring harnesses vehicle specific, so if you opt to go with the base sound system and plan to install your own equipment, your installer will need to run wires. Any way you slice it, expect some labor charges. There is nothing stopping you from going aftermarket.
