Also putting some fuel in the car the other day (£30) the fuel guage didnt register, the light was still on and saying it had no miles left in the tank, it took a few hours and then went up to half way which was correct, i then waited for the light again and put in £20 but again this didnt register, so the guage is going down when using the fuel but isnt going back up once filled with fuel.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Not sure if anybody can help but here goes, I have recently purchased a 2003 Porsche 911 996 C4S not long after buying it privately the right hand radiator has developed a very small leak from it, i only notice it ocassionally with a v.small puddle on the floor. Could this be the pipework going to the radiator or does it sound like it needs a replacement? Also putting some fuel in the car the other day (£30) the fuel guage didnt register, the light was still on and saying it had no miles left in the tank, it took a few hours and then went up to half way which was correct, i then waited for the light again and put in £20 but again this didnt register, so the guage is going down when using the fuel but isnt going back up once filled with fuel. Anyone have any suggestion what this could be? Thanks Patrick

POST 2Original post

Hi Patrick, it's most likely the radiator will be shot. They are known to corrode as a result of the dirt build-up which gets in through the front grilles and remains stuck to both the coolant and air con radiators at the bottom. If you're handy with spanners, it's good practise to remove the front bumper (PU) and clean out all the crud periodically. The fuel gauge sounds about right. I think it is due to the shape of the fuel tank having two cavities as opposed to one big tank. The fuel gauge doesn't register part-fills sometimes, I cannot say exactly what amount it neglects to register. It should however, always register a complete fill up. Hope this helps...

POST 4Original post

Beat me to it; the fuel tank on the C4S is like an 'n' shape so the guage is only accurate for the top half of the tank - once it's down below half the guage is basically guessing as to how much fuel is left so if you don't top it up to at least half way it'll still tell you it's empty! This is in the owners manual by the way, if you have one with the car?

POST 5Original post

£50 to put the light out and have it reading and radiator should take you 2.5 to 3 hours and cost varies from £200 to around £350 for a rad.
