Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking to replace a tired and weathered bonnet badge on my C4. Are any special tools reqyired to remove the the retaining nuts and are they easy to remove??...don't want to remove it and can't get the new one on!!! :damn: Cheers![/img]

POST 2Original post

You just need an M10 socket. The new badges come with self-tapping nuts which cut a thread on the pins in the back of the badge. Be careful not to overtighten them. The only tricky bit is getting the badge to fit into the black rubber gasket. If you dunk the gasket in a cup of boiling water for a couple of minutes before fitting, it softens the gasket and makes it stretch easier. Try Jasmine Porschelink (?sp) for the badge. I got one for mine for about £25. They list them on eBay. Don't get one from an OPC as they are the new 997 badge, which isn't as nice as the original enamelled one.

POST 3Original post

Very simple, I got one from here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PORSCHE-986-9...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c13e41e3c came with the new rubber.

POST 4Original post

Sorry to hijack the thread. I didn't know there was a difference Richard. Do you have any photos comparing the two types? Thanks, Ian

POST 5Original post

I don't have any photos I'm afraid. The new 997 ones have a clear plastic covering that is completely smooth. IMO they aren't as nice as the original fitment, which isn't available from Porsche now. The old part number is 996.559.211.01 The new one is 997.559.211.00

I was going to ask that too, but was too scared.
