This is not a probability of success.

I've found a 996 C2 manual with the areo kit on it which ticks all my (and the wife's) boxes and I just need to do a bit more digging to check the car is a good un.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, I joined up here a while ago but recently haven't been visiting but currently am (hopefully!) finally going to be buying a 911 in the next few weeks I've found a 996 C2 manual with the areo kit on it which ticks all my (and the wife's) boxes and I just need to do a bit more digging to check the car is a good un. My current daily is a 52 plate Mercedes SLK :yuk: which I fell out of love with a while ago. I've wanted a Porsche for years and the time is right. Deep down I know it'd make a lot more sense to buy a late model diesel A4 but if I compromise again I'll just regret it 3 months down the line like usual. I have been doing my best to convince her a 993 is better but as she says no, but likes the 996/997 and there's no way I can afford a 997 so a 996 it is . I took a facelift C4 Out for a test drive about 6 months ago and it blew me away. My wee merc is okay but jumping from a 911 back into the merc was such an anti climax and I felt gutted driving it home. Any how I've blabbered on for long enough, Paddy

:welcome: Buy the Porsche,...you know it makes sense :thumb: TB

POST 3Original post

Do it ... I went through a similar thought process recently. Was looking at an A4 / A6, a Range Rover, and then variations on the Merc SL500. But I'd always really wanted a Porsche ... so yesterday I collected a 2000 996 C4S and the smile hasn't gone yet. I've only been able to do a few short runs around town, but have a trip to Bavaria and through the Black Forest planned in August, and one to the south of France planned at end September. Those two should add a few more miles to the 32K currently one it, and provide the opportunity to get to know it a bit better! Just have to remember to stick to the black forest cake and not the largers in Bavaria.
