In the middle of the alignment they then tell me that I am using coilovers so they can't align it right.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

H&R COILOVERS INSTALLED
BEFORE DROP WITH JUST THE 19" WHEELS
Thanks to Gilles for some supportive info about coilovers. It's amazing with the little suspension travel, how stiff the cornering is yet still feels comfortable over bumps like factory but sitting so aggressively. So far, love the sportier ride quality.
This is what the numbers read...
H&R Street Performance Coil Over

On the shock - 37 12 452-1/1

Can someone with knowledge about damper codes please decipher?
Quick question, do you hear any thumping sound with H&R?
I get it with my
Bilstein
whenever I turn the steering wheel...sometimes loud and sometimes quiet.
Someone probably left out the thrust bearings at the top of the strut. These allow the strut to turn smoothly when the steering wheel is turned. Mine make no noise.
Didn't get it done at RUF...which I really should of to start off with.
I did get my oem parts back...but I dont remember seeing those.
Decided to take it to RUF because I dont feel like going back to that place where I got it installed to fix the problem...this is what happens when you take a
porsche
to a
BMW
tuner...it was so close to my house.
Yikes......Ruf is a good choice as are any of the local
Porsche
speed shops like Mayo in Bedford or Istook in Fort Worth, but it all depends on where you live. Even the dealers in the area are well equipped to do a suspension upgrade so you might want to check them out. Finding a shop that you can rely on and stick with is hard, kind of like finding a good dentist you are going to experience some pain along the way to finding the right one.......to this day I still haven't found the right dentist, but at least I know about a handful of speed shops that I can go to get work done on the CS. I am going to Mayo to have my rear suspension worked on because my H&Rs are sagging and my axles are rubbing on my
exhaust
pipes so I know your pain. Good luck and post up your results with Ruf on customer service and whether they find the problem.
Just checked, no luck locating the thrust bearings returned with the oem parts. All I recieved is the shocks, springs, hex nuts and some orange/black rubbers thats fit on the shocks.
Now I am wondering if it's lost or put on. If it's put on then why is it making the noise.
Oh well...taking it to RUF...hopefully it won't cost another 500-1k to fix this problem.
Haven't you learned yet that everything costs 500 bucks a pop. As I mentioned in my first post I have to have my rear springs fixed by putting a 6mm spacer on them so I can get the rear from sagging. First quote from the dealer in Fort worth was 500 buck not including an alignment. The spacer only cost 6 bucks each. Good luck
Autoscope...don't get me started with them. I had a bad experience with them not too long ago with an alignement...don't even think they really did do an alignement. In the middle of the alignment they then tell me that I am using coilovers so they can't align it right. When I paid, they told me it's 240 instead of what was told to me over the phone. Something similar happened to a friend with his
BMW
that went there as well.
As far as Boardwalk, I had a great expeirence with them espeically John Gladwell. Even though it took them an extra day to do the work, at least they gave me a rental.
Just my personal opinion on them. RUF isn't too far you know.
