New from Porsche! A factory software kit that adds a new dimension to your Porsche. By pressing a dash-mounted "SPORT" switch, you can chose between a stock mode and a Sport Mode with improved performance dynamics.
Benefits of Sport Mode activation:
- Sporty tuning of engine Motronic software,
PASM
, PSM, Tiptronic Transmission (if applicable), all-wheel-drive system (if applicable).
- For vehicles with factory Sport
Exhaust
, the new Sport button would control
exhaust
settings.
- For vehicles with
PCM
, new personalized settings can now be controlled. Including memory for lights, wiper, climate control, & door lock settings.
- For 2009-2011 vehicles with
PDK
, you get a
Sport Plus button
with
Launch
Control and Race Track Shift Strategy.
- For Turbo models, Overboost is also added for additional acceleration.
When the Sport button on the center console is selected, the engine management system enhances the engine response. A modified throttle map relates the pedal angle in the footwell to a much wider angle of opening on the throttle valve. Throttle response is significantly more immediate, and, in the higher gears, a hard rev-limiter helps protect the engine under acceleration.
Vehicles with the optional Porsche Active Suspension Management (
PASM
) also switches to Sport mode for harder damping and more direct steering, and, therefore, better road holding. For maximum dexterity, PSM can be set to standby while the car is still in Sport mode. For safety, it is set to intervene automatically only when ABS assistance is required on both the front wheels.
For Tiptronic or
PDK
transmissions, gearshift
points
are delayed until the upper rev range. The shift times are shorter, the gear changes sportier. At low rates of decelerationeven with high engine speedsthe system initiates a swifter brake-induced downshift. In manual mode, gear changes are faster and more dynamic. In Sport mode, the trigger threshold for PSM is raised for increased longitudinal and lateral dynamics. Agility is enhanced under braking for corners with PSM, enabling greater handling response under braking and exit acceleration, especially at low speeds.
Fitment: 2005-2011
Carrera
, Turbo,
Cayman
, &
Boxster
models without
Sport Chrono
or
Sport Chrono
Plus.
Note: Professional installation required by an authorized Porsche dealer, estimated installation time is 2-4 hours. Must acquire an enabling code from Porsche (insert your VIN number if you want us to obtain it), make sure your VIN number is 100% accurate (if it's wrong, you've wasted your money). This kit is not returnable under any circumstance. Includes software and a new dash switch. Special Order from Germany.
OK I'll bite. How much is the kit???
$1200 - they just put it on their website.
+ 2 to 4 hours labor right? That's an interesting proposition. Unless I'm reading it wrong it sounds like a
PSE
/chip upgrade combo pack.
Headed to their website now.
Okay so I did read it wrong. Only applies to the
exhaust
if you already have
PSE
. For poor folks like me who don't have SC or
PASM
it's just a "sport tuning" of the
ECU
. Sounds good and I can't wait to hear some reviews. I assume since it's a factory upgrade it won't affect my warranty which is nice. But why would I choose it over a more economically priced
Softronic
flash?
Thank God! I'm so tired of the wimpy shift
points
on
my
PDK
in automatic mode. The price is right and it's
all Porsche certified, warranted and installed.
So this is basically the
Sport Chrono
without the wart on the dash? Very cool idea - I'm sorely tempted if only for the improved mapping for the Tiptronic (since many of the other features I already have with
Softronic
). When will the temptation to spend more money on this car end?!? :wall:
Group Buy?
Because the
Softronic
ECU
flash won't do doodley squat for the
PDK
shifting! Having both is the real deal!
Anyone who bought a
PDK
without the SC+ option needs to jump on this asap!
The whole thing here, as I read it, is a software kit. No where did I read anything about required parts; i.e. the new setup with the sport, sport plus, etc buttons where applicable. That
might(?)
explain the 2 - 4 hr install time. Now you just have to add the switches, switch row, etc, ?, and wiring to that.
Seems to me that something on this sales pitch is missing/hidden. Why would some get buttons/wiring/parts whereas others wouldn't but yet pay the same price.
The ad on the website does say it includes the dash switch:
"This kit is not returnable under any circumstance. Includes software and a new dash switch. Special Order from Germany."
I can't imagine that just installing a new switch panel and reflashing the
DME
would take 2-4 hours. I'm wondering if it must involve running some wiring to the
DME
and/or transmission computer, since one assumes the wiring harnesses for cars with
Sports Chrono
are different than the one's without.
O.k., a local dealer in Houston, will order the Sports Mode software ($1200), the switch panel (~$100) and install it all @ $130/hr. (ouch) at an estimated 3 hrs. for a total of less than $2k. They will also put in a Porsche approved GIAC flash for $1,100 tuned for my FVD catback
exhaust
. All of this is guaranteed to be Porsche warranty compliant and friendly. The work is scheduled for next Friday, stay tuned (pardon the pun!).
congrats, now your
pdk
will shift like it's built to be
You're going to love how it
+1
Confused why your dealer is charging for the switch panel since suncoast posted its included.
My service rep. said he wasn't sure if the kit included the switch. I hope it's included, but it's a small added cost if not. The nice part is that letting my dealer handle the whole deal puts me at zero risk! This dealer has added a list of researched, conservative performance upgrades from a selected group of vendors to their service department's approved repetoire. In other words, they have chosen to be mod. friendly on their terms and I have no problem with that at all.
I have a '08 RS
Spyder
with
PASM
and a Sport button, however no
Sport Chrono
. According to my manual and past driving experience when engaging my Sport button, all of the changes indicated occur. Is this an additional performance change?
When you engage 'sport' you should notice decidedly more throttle response... if so, it would indicate your car already has the re-mapped throttle. This is NOT a performance increase, but certainly makes for a more sporty feel/experience.
To think of all the cars I turned down because they didn't have SC... wow this is great news indeed!
every
pdk
owner with no
sport chrono
should buy this asap!
Here is what I found out
The SW. lic, etc is $1288. The needed switchrow is extra and varies on $ depending on what you need; guess is ~$100 +/-. IAW with the paperwork the complete install is booked by Porsche, as listed in the paperwork, as 1 1/2 hrs.
HTH
The labour does not make any sense to me.
Changing the switch is like a 30 second job.
The enabling code cant take more than a minute I figure, unless it a
ECU
reflash which would take 10-20 minutes.
Porsche Sport Mode Software:
$1200 + 3 hours labor ($150hr) in S Florida =
$1,650.00
Sprint Booster:
$300.00 installed
Guess if you have money to burn... go for it.
If you do end up going with the Porsche Sport Mode Software, I just hope you don't end up in Tomasz's thread...

Shoot... for that scratch I'd do the Escort 9500CI + the Sprint Booster!
Hello friends from Planet 9,
Sorry but we are not going to be able to come up with a group buy for this item but we just reviewed our website with the best price possible. Please see link:
http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//9X7SM.html
This item is a Porsche parts kit and we will include the installation instructions with your purchase.
Porsche dealer installation required. Installation is as easy as removing the switch, replacing it with the new one and performing a vehicle computer software upgrade. No wiring modifications needed.
The switch is included in our price and it is very specific to your model (vin# required), you will have all your existing switches plus the ones that come with the kit. See example picture below.
For the record, the factory software offers a lot more features than the
Sprintbooster
...
Well said and don't forget the Porsche warranty, thank you Scottschoe.
Please keep this thread on the topic of the Porsche software. If you want to discuss the pros and cons of it vs. another product, please start a new thread.
Thank you.
I think the biggie is the shifting for the tip guys.. How big a difference does it make?
So I have 2009 boxter-s with
pdk
, but no
sport chrono
, so whats the difference between this and
sprintbooster
. No
pasm
or
pse
on my car, am I better off with
sprintbooster
, since the car wont be faster, but just feel faster
since your car is a
PDK
it would benefit from this as it will give you the "sport" trans mode... I would consider it a must for a
PDK
owner...
I hope that Scott and the
Softronic
folks will pipe in. If I add this to an non
sport chrono
987.1 do I need a new and different
Softronic
flash? - will I be able to turn on and off sport mode and still keep my other
Softronic
benefits?
Conflicting info between sponsor and member info. Is PCM necessary for launch control?
Here we go again...
Nope, it's not necessary.
We had a huge debate about this.
And don't forget
PDK
shifting also!
