Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Okay guys, bear with me on this.... Former '89 Carrera owner,'96 993 owner, have been evaluating purchase of late '99 production 996 coupe. Decent no stories cars in the 30-40k miles range are 48-52k in my area (Los Angeles) Undoubtedly, exceptions to that are out there. Anyhow, would not have even have considered a Boxster but just drove a 90 as well as a 93 S at a dealer and was thoroughly impressed. Used '00 and '01 Boxster S are running from a low of $39k to a high of $46k with mileage ranging from 5k to 20k. My target budget is not to exceed 50k for a car. Bonus points if I manage to spend less than that. Beyond the obvious reasons for the 996 purchase...(more room, more power, better resale, the "real Porsche" argument??, I would really appreciate your thoughts and experiences which relate to this decision. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

for me u have answered yr own question - why get a car with less power/less room/worse re-sale and missing that certain 911 feel. plus i dont like the look of the boxter - but thats my taste let us know what u decide in the end

I'm with Dom. Good luck <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

POST 4Original post

Having owned a boxster and now driving a 02 c4 cab i can advise to go for the 911, since the boxster has less power. The big advantage of the boxster is that it is a convertible, which in LA will give you plenty of oportunity to drive open. If you are really into open driving buy the boxster and soup it up, if not buy the 911. good luck
