Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

- the 997 sports I have are slightly lighter than the 996 sports as they only have one motor for the back tilt adjust (seat pan height/angle is manual lever)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all Was looking at this 996 online http://www.911virgin.com/porscheforsale/1280/996C2Manual(3.6)/ Those seats are from a 997 aren't they? Does anyone know if they go straight into a 996.1 or if they go in with some issues / work-arounds? Also, are they heavier than the hardback sports seats? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Yes, from a 997. They will fit straight in  Probably about the same weight as both are the Giant Haystacks of Porsche seats  Now go buy it :thumb:

POST 3Original post

Those seats do seem to lift the 996 interior and the rear dectane LEDs, nice. a hartech rebuild gen2 you know its going to be in nice condition from 911V . it looks like a very nice car.

POST 4Original post

Ive got 997 seats in my 996. Much better, but the side airbags are inactive. (Probably, I havent actually put them to the test!)

POST 5Original post

Wow this works really well, would have never have thought.. Do the sports version also fit the 996?

POST 6Original post

I swapped to the 997 sports seats from ruffled leather tombstones - they are a vast improvement. They bolt straight in, but I had to adapt the electrics to fit.

POST 9Original post

997 sport seats bolt straight in - they're a little taller (headrests scuff the headliner lightly when you tilt them forward) - quality of the leather is finer - support is better - look is better - sit a tiny bit lower - the 997 sports I have are slightly lighter than the 996 sports as they only have one motor for the back tilt adjust (seat pan height/angle is manual lever) - the loom connectors are different (997 uses a slightly bizarre 3-1 combined connector) - plastic covers for the metal runners need to come over from the 997 if you want those, as the 996 ones wont fit - if you have heated seats you need to obtain and slice in a piece of pig tail loom from under the 996 seat i.e. the relays are in the dash for the 997, but under the seat for the 996, so that part of the loom will be missing (scavenging and splicing in the 996 loom piece is the easiest solution, but takes a little figuring out from the wiring diagrams) ...I also have 997 back seats in my 996 - seat bases aren't a perfect fit (but cant tell visually and no one really sits back there), for me it all looks like one interior, rather than a mixed set.....

POST 10Original post

Forgot you had these too demon  :thumb:

POST 12Original post

911uk.com sticker in the back window too!! Must be a good 'un!!

POST 13Original post

First couple are when I had one of each installed (note: hadn't lowered the seat height of the 997 seat to where I had the 996 seat) Last one is of the them both in (I've since had them back out and resprayed the backs/sides to fully match the rest of my interior)

POST 15Original post

There isn't a big difference between the two, but still it improves the interior significantly I think! :thumb:
