Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

The reason is whatever the dyno says, I would not want the car to go back to how it was, so I think I'll save the money for brake pads and tyres as I will be using more of both from now on!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Finally had a DMS chip upgrade to my 3.2 987s. ...... and I think it's superb. IMHO the "seat of your pants" dyno can feel real performance gains from 2500 RPM upward with improved throttle response low down (but not over sensitive). At the top end there is a also a definite edge when variocam kicks in. I would say that the car has moved the game on in much the same way as the 3.4 has moved on from the 3.2 (having driven both Boxster and Cayman versions) if not a little more. Before when driving on a suitable road I would not have to think about measuring out all of the power exiting a bend due to the amazing grip and handling of the car, now you do have to think about feeding in the power gradually. It may be that my car has reacted better than others may, but I am very pleased. In terms of value, £1k is not an insignificant amount to spend on a claimed 20ish BHP upgrade, however the boxster is not a cheap car and therefore power does cost. Especially power that is stealthy, reversible, reliable (based on DMS reputation) and usable in everyday driving. I had planned to dyno the car to verify gains but have decided not to now. The reason is whatever the dyno says, I would not want the car to go back to how it was, so I think I'll save the money for brake pads and tyres as I will be using more of both from now on! This upgrade is not for all, as for many the performance of the standard Boxster yet alone Boxster S is plenty. If you need/want more however this has got to be worth a look.
