I had a Milltek catback installed a couple of weeks ago (love the sound...) but the two tips don't quite line up. The one on the left is farther out than the one on the right. Looking at the way the tips are welded to the pipes, it looks like the right one is as far out as it can get while the left one is welded farther back. (As if to try to make up for a difference in lengths.) Unfortunately its not enough so the left tip sits about 1/4" farther out. Any other Milltek owners have the same problem?
Which version of the exhaust do you have? The first version was harder to line up tips because you had to play with brackets and their adjustments on the left and right sides to get things to mesh up. Later Milltek changed their design to allow the latter stages of the exhaust to be manipulated independently and thus made it easier to line up tips.
I would assume that it is a new one as it was shipped from Stratmosphere only three weeks ago. How can I tell?
Milltek tips
Hi Steve,
I had a Milltek cat back system installed about 2 months ago, then once the cat issue was resolved I had the headers installed about a week ago. (basically a full re-install). I've attached 2 picts I took right after both events and I have no issues at all with tip alignment... The second picture (1763) can be a bit misleading due to the background lines in the pavement that aren't quite perpendicular but trust me they're even.
Loved the sound with just the cat back but the headers made it even better! They haven't been out on the market for very long since the cat issue was supposedly fixed so you should keep that in mind if you want to get them but I've had no issues with mine YET.
