Is it possible to activate daytime running lights on a MY11 987 Boxster? Looks like they were active on US spec cars but not here? Thanks in advance.

Should be, you need to find someone who can access the cars software. I found a guy in Sydney who turned on a bunch of options on one of my early (water cooled) 911’s. There are others here who have much better knowledge than me on this topic, guys???

A 987.2 would most likely use the low beam as the DRL (the Cayman R does and it can be turned on or off by the user in the options) the lower lights are probably fog lights which can not be used as DRL.

It just turns the headlights on/off with ignition. It's a gadget you plug into the OBD port, and can recode your cars features.
