Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I think AP said in one of the GT car vids they changed the configuration of the screens to avoid this ?

Odd isn't it with the dials Surely in user testing people must have flagged it.

I do take your point about user testing though, but it's not a massive issue and I tend to leave it on the full 5 screens view anyway.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

What retro feature(s) would you want on your brand spanking new 911?
I would really like the retro Targa roof, manually removed and placed in the boot.
I admire the new Targa, hacken-clappen mechanism, but it is too complex and heavy, just another thing to go wrong after 10 years of enjoyment.
What is your retro wish?
Narrow body, rwd, some superfluous weight saving, manual gearbox, smaller wheels, classic paint colour, no silly stickers……. Less is more.
Still haven’t found the love for the 992

I like the idea, @Geneve
I would vote for narrow body, RWD, M/T and smaller wheels. Colours and stickers can be opted out.
Analog dials in green. I don't like how it has all become digital....the 992.2 will be doing away with the center one and will be all digital.
Seems their business model is to charge for features with a DNA to the past - pepita fabric, turbo door cards, fuchs etc etc.
Seems such a shame so much DNA has been lost and that the best 911's in the world are no longer made by Porsche, but Singer.

Is it going all digital? The analogue rev-counter in the centre is a nice touch!

yep spy shots of the Gen 2 show the analogue rev-counter is no more and all digital.
Probably to address the fact that you can’t see all the dials which lets face it is an absolute shocker. I think AP said in one of the GT car vids they changed the configuration of the screens to avoid this ?
Oh and it’s cheaper of course…..

There is an option when scrolling through the views to have a 'reduced view', this brings the view down to just three dials showing key info you need.
However, you get all the info you need anyway from the inner screens when on the full 5 screens view. I do take your point about user testing though, but it's not a massive issue and I tend to leave it on the full 5 screens view anyway.

Otherwise known as a 997.2 C2S?

I like the 5 dials config and I can move my head and eyeballs if I want to see the details on each side 8-)
I can imagine this could be an issue with a helmet fixed to a brace, like the F1GP, but in a normal road conditions, e.g. checking the dials at the traffic lights I don’t see a problem.
The narrow body of the 997 and earlier models was so much prettier than wide bodies. Im biased but think the GT3 is a better buy than the uglier GT3RS of the 997

This, the Cayman is the same size as the older 911's
This is probably why I am enjoying my 718 Boxster so much… but I do know that I need to have a 911 Carrera.

Even heavier than the 991. Yes, despite the flak Porsche always get when introducing a new model, they do actually get a few things right.

No touch screens
Manual
Analoge dials
Manual seat controls
No "modes"
Sized like a 997
what you describe is a 997.1, which arguably is 997 sized
The 7.1 has no touchscreens, unlike the 7.2
My base spec 7.1 C2 has manual seat controls, although the seat back is electric. Crucially, the longitudinal adjustment is manually.
Sooooo much faster than anything electric.
Dials are analogue but the supplementary digital speedo is nice.
As I have stated numerous times, the 997 is such a great package.
It really is a driving experience from an other time, when cars really where analogue. While has no air cooled engine, it is the last classic 911 in many other ways.

So a 997 style car with some aluminium and composites thrown in?
There is some precedent to making a successor car smaller look at the Ferrari 599 vs the F12
