Suggestion

I had the car in at 60K and should have replaced the h20 pump then..the shop also wanted to replace all the ignition coils, I agree they probably need it but they wanted around 600$ for that which should be an easy diy, .....thanks for responses, you guys are a great help and fantastic resource.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

2007 s with 75 k miles. I was planning on a oil change and new water pump,( preventative maintenance) and I now have a motor noise. starts quiet, warms up and the noise starts. car has full power and no warning lights. seems like the ims would have gone long before now but?????? sounds like a loose pulley at times. needless to say the car is sitting until I can get it into a shop for a look. any ideas, and no, there is no oil leaking under the car. driving the backup 86 911

POST 2Original post

Having experienced something similar, the first thing to check is the water pump. They can create all kind of noises when they start to go. Mine sounded normal until the engine warmed up and then the pump sounded like a 747 landing in my garage. Had it swapped, along with all the pulleys, and its good as gold. Good luck.

POST 3Original post

I agree that the water pump might be the source of your noise. If you can run the car briefly without the serpentine belt that may help with the diagnosis. Good luck.

POST 4Original post

guys thanks for the quick response, will let you know the outcome! other than this car's rock solid but this hopefully is preventative maintenance

POST 5Original post

I'm guessing it's your water pump too. Here's a couple videos of what mine sounded like: Early noises: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5hDstiglGo Right before the end noises: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mshCIUu4oeo Noises began intermittently then eventually became more consistent.

POST 6Original post

scary noises, your utube videos were great. my "noise" has not gotten to that yet but I can hear similarity. thank you for the response and when I get this thing fixed, will let you all know.

POST 7Original post

do let us know how it turns out - the symphony of noises from this car works 2 ways. sounds great when all seems well but when there is an odd noise it can make us worry and keep us awake at night!

POST 8Original post

cars in the shop now and the water pump is the culprit. I had the car in at 60K and should have replaced the h20 pump then..the shop also wanted to replace all the ignition coils, I agree they probably need it but they wanted around 600$ for that which should be an easy diy, .....thanks for responses, you guys are a great help and fantastic resource.
