Is there any way of checking the wire without having to remove the PCM and climate unit?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi, I used my car two days ago and on ignition the climate control was working fine. Within 30 seconds I noticed that it had turned off (air stopped blowing and unit seemed off). On closer inspection I found that the LCD had become extremely faint and was displaying the last climate settings I had on. I tried every button but the unit was completely unresponsive, like it had crashed. I drove for about 1 hr and nothing changed. The LCD continued to work when I turned the engine off and pulled the key out! The car was then locked and parked for 3-4 hours. On starting it up the climate control sprung into life and continued to work perfectly for the drive back. I thought that was the end of it but no such luck....when I used the car earlier today the climate control didn't turn on at all! I had a quick look at the fuse and it seemed ok (no melting) but 1) I don't have any proper equipment at the moment to test it properly, 2) I'm a novice when it comes to these things! If it could be a problem with the fuse, does the fuse box have a spare one I can use to check if the current one is blown? BTW my car is a UK '06 CS. I hope someone can help. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Have you checked the wire connector coming out of the back of the HVAC unit to see if it is perhaps loose or making a poor connection? It's either that or a defective unit from the sound of it...

POST 3Original post

Is there any way of checking the wire without having to remove the PCM and climate unit? I checked the article on the PCM 2.1 install and I don't have any torx head bolts! Thanks K-Man S.

Holy thread revival Did you ever find a solution to this. I'm having the same problem and this is the only refernce to this problem I have ever found.
