I just replaced the plastic ball joins on the retractable top, and now the remote key fob stopped working.

So I think, but I'm not sure, that the problem is with the receiver in the car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I have a 2007 boxster and things are starting to go wrong one after another. I just replaced the plastic ball joins on the retractable top, and now the remote key fob stopped working. I replaced the battery in the key fob. Now the fob lights up when I press the buttons, but none of the remote control functionality works (lock, hood or trunk). So I think, but I'm not sure, that the problem is with the receiver in the car. The car's electric system seems to be okay, or at least there are no other apparent failure. How would you go about confirming the problem? I only have one fob. And is the RC receiver in the car a component that tends to fail and can it be replaced?
