Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used just the water for the underbody and wheel wells, than drove home fast and did the rest by hand

Suggestion
Yes, the cleaning chemicals are harsh compared to the auto wash I use at home, the spray is much more powerful, and the wash water is recycled (at least it's filtered between washes), but my cars are starting to look like I don't care.

The small rust particles from the 72 Rambler that used the wash before you will be bad for the 996's paint.

I recently broke the law by using 4 gallons of water collected from 2 dehumidifiers to sponge-bathe my car, then complied with the law while hosing about 40 gallons of water from the tap onto our shrubs (ok to water shrubs, but not cars or lawns).

You have to use the wand to dispense various chemicals and water on the car.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a high-pressure car wash nearby. It isn't a drive thru. You have to use the wand to dispense various chemicals and water on the car. Is this type of a car wash safe for the 996's paint? I have used it before but never took the Porsche over there. I hand-dry and hand-polish and or wax it right after washing. But I am wondering if the chemicals in these car-washes are too harsh for the 996's paint. Any thoughts?
Most of VA is under water restrictions that allow car washing at commercial car washes, but not at home. I recently broke the law by using 4 gallons of water collected from 2 dehumidifiers to sponge-bathe my car, then complied with the law while hosing about 40 gallons of water from the tap onto our shrubs (ok to water shrubs, but not cars or lawns). We draw water from the New River basin, so there is really no shortage of tap water in this area, but we are on restrictions anyway. My cars are very dirty now from driving in the rain, so I'm tempted to visit the commercial do-it-yourself car wash. Yes, the cleaning chemicals are harsh compared to the auto wash I use at home, the spray is much more powerful, and the wash water is recycled (at least it's filtered between washes), but my cars are starting to look like I don't care. Can I be arrested for car abuse?
I have the same issues at home with water restrictions. However, they have times that cars can be washed. Nothing like getting up at 7am on Sunday to wash the cars. I will admit to doing the self service car wash in a time of desperation (bird bombs).
Jim,
I'm really glad I don't live in VA. Even though my car is not a daily driver it is washed every Saturday!
If I use it alot during the weekend, I will frequently wash it again on Tuesday or Wednesday-meaning it gets two baths a week!
I guess I just think a high dollar car as beautiful as the Porsche ought to look the role, in my opinion of course! <img src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" border="0" alt="[blabla]" />
