I found similar large open holes on mine when I fitted the M030 kit a couple of weeks ago.

It is probably for a LHD car though , there are various holes that are used either on LHD or RHD that are blanked off depending on which .

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone tell me what these holes are for in the passenger side wheel arch behind the liner please? The upper hole looks as though it should have a plug in it although an on-line picture I've found looks similar. Don't worry about the 'oil leaks', it's ACF50 and, anyway, I'm getting Ohlins fitted at CG on Tuesday. Thanks Mike

POST 2Original post

I found similar large open holes on mine when I fitted the M030 kit a couple of weeks ago. Posted the same question and replies said they are without grommets. I'm booked in Wed AM for a geo set up at centre gravity. Let us know how you get on. Ian

POST 3Original post

Your shock is leaking .. oh wait .. im not supposed to mention that Ok .. top hole .. its a drain hole .. if you remove the plastic panel next to the battery .. either side really you will see it and the " tub " that it drains water from. You do have other drain holes there with grommets but this one is supposed to be open . Bottom hole .. It can be several things really .. body is made for all models so some cars might have an option that it is needed for , if not needed then a grommet is fitted . It could be part of the manufacturing process were a hole is needed then sealed afterwards. It is probably for a LHD car though , there are various holes that are used either on LHD or RHD that are blanked off depending on which . I worked on Volvos many years ago .. and i mean many .. part of the PDI was to fit x4 grommets in the chassis .. the reason .. it was for strapping the cars down during transport !

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm there for two days, see you there. deMort, many thanks, I felt the drain tube through the hole, should the tube come out of the hole?

POST 5Original post

The very early cars had a drain tube , later ones had just a grommet , there will be 2 each side of the battery . There is nothing that needs to come through that hole though .. and be carefull sticking your finger into holes Basically .. its all normal . Heres a Boxster showing the same holes ..
