Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Yes, recalibration was tried several times both before and after disconnecting the battery but had no effect.

Suggestion

The solution I found was to change the door winder mechanism, actually a much easier job than changing the door latch - you just remove the door liner, unplug the 3 plugs from the winder (pull out the 2 red latches then squeeze the latch from below and they come out easy, on the 3rd the orange bar swings upwards), unscrew the 3 screws holding the winder in place, gently pull the winder off the spline.

Suggestion

Just make sure you use the screws to pull the new winder onto the spline, if you try to push it on the part you are pushing it onto in the door will fall down back and you will have to take more of the door apart to get it back again - not difficult just annoying.

Unsuccessful attempt

That meant that every time someone used the door you had to go round to the drivers side and wind the window up on the switch with the added danger of forgetting, having the car flood in the rain and fry the computer under the passenger seat. There seem to be many forum posts with similar, but subtly different, issues that point to a micro switch in the door latch - I changed that but this problem persisted.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I just wanted to share my experiences with a window problem I have just fixed to add to the knowledge out there. This was on a 2007 Cayman , RH drive. The problem - passenger side window would go down when you lifted the handled but would not go back up, either if your released the handle without opening the door or opened and then closed the door. The window would stay down about 20mm. Reverse for assembly. Just make sure you use the screws to pull the new winder onto the spline, if you try to push it on the part you are pushing it onto in the door will fall down back and you will have to take more of the door apart to get it back again - not difficult just annoying. One other point of note - there are 2 version of the winders which look identical but have different part numbers - they are not interchangeable.

POST 2Original post

Awesome thats great. I have the same problem but on my driver's side window. Did you give your Vin# to Porsche to get the right winder?

POST 3Original post

I just removed the door liner and the part number is on a sticker on the winder motor unit (mine was 997.624.182.03 but they will be different side to side and thee are at least two versions). I got a replacement off ebay for £58.

POST 4Original post

Door winder? Is that the thing that moves the window up and down?

POST 5Original post

OP, I'm assuming you first tried re-calibrating the window controller by (with the door closed) lowering the window all the way, then raising it all the way while continuing to hold the switch in the up position for 5 seconds after it was fully up. That fixes a lot of these problems.

POST 6Original post

Yes, recalibration was tried several times both before and after disconnecting the battery but had no effect. Sorry - my terminology is probably not correct - by "window winder" I mean the motor and computer assembly that controls the window. Picture of my replacement attached.

POST 7Original post

Hopefully you didn't pay too much for that door ECU . I had to replace it for the courtesy light. http://www.planet-9.com/987-cayman-...-complaints/86760-step-courtesy-light-not-working.html?highlight=courtesy+light

POST 9Original post

If anyone is in need of one of these assemblies, I have the stock ones that I removed from my 2007 CS in a race conversion. PM for details if interested. WN
