Car has been in shop for a long time waiting on parts. Parts are in - went to open it and of course the
battery
was dead ( new not long ago, so thought it did not need tender?)
In any respect , did the " frunk pop the hood deal" through the fuse panel , and car started with a jump BUT - and here is the strange part , the rear hatch would not open with key or manual lever. Rear spoiler would not raise and dash showing a PSM failure.
None of these were issues when parked.
QUESTIONS
1-Could this all be related to the
battery
- slow charge on it now - not enough volts to power these items up?
2- Is the only manual release for the rear hatch under the left fender footwell?
3- Wondering why a new
battery
would go flat after 40 days ?
Any other thoughts ?
Thanks in advance
Would have to research where the manual release for the rear hatch is; I'm fairly certain the manual release for the frunk is under the front left fender footwell.
Re
battery
: there is a very good chance most (if not all) of the problems you are seeing are due to the
battery
going dead. Once a
battery
goes dead, it is usually permanently degraded -- and may not be possible to restore it. (Regardless of its age) A lot of people on these forums put their cars on
battery
maintainers if they won't be driven within a week or so. I put mine on one if I won't be driving it for three days or more, and some keep their cars on
battery
maintainers all the time.
Please let us know what you find. 40 days is a very long time to go without driving a
Porsche
and not maintaining the
battery
.
Could be a fuse. There is 1 fuse that controls those things. The PSM light comes on when you disconnect the
battery
. It will go out after you drive a mile or so.
thanks guys - it was the
battery
, I will know better from here on out to let her go for so long without tender or being driven. Honestly drive her year round so this is an unusual occurrence What are your thoughts on totally discharged
battery
regaining full reliable function through charge and driving?. Tomerie - you feel - not so good? Is that from experience ?
First of all driving it will NOT fully recharge a dead battery. That's not the function of an alternator. Secondly it would just depend on the battery. Some will recharge and continue to work and other may not. It's a roll if the dice with this one. It's best to charge the battery on a regular battery charger if discharged and NOT a tender.

It may be fine once fully charged back up since its relatively new. Draining any auto
battery
fully down always causes some amount of damage whether you actually notice it or not, but whether it matters in your case is anyone's guess depending on just how flat it was and how long it stayed that way. You are in the danger/damage zone once you drain them down to 10V or lower. Its a roll of the dice and see what happens as stated in the post above
Thanks again , on charger for full charging , and will watch it . In the market now for a good tender - is there a preference for our P cars?
Thanks again
This is the one that I use.

Don't bother with the
Porsche
version of anything. Its just a very old
CTEK
model that can be found anywhere else for $50-$60 being sold for twice the price with a
Porsche
sticker on it. Or you could get the Lamborghini version for $175
ohhhh the Lambo version ... I need that .................Just kidding , I hear ya - thanks !
Hopefully the
battery
will solve your problem, but these modules are sensitive to low voltages. My CS had a dead
battery
when I bought it and I had to replace the front and rear modules, as well as both door modules.
