Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Hey all - Check out pic, please. PO didn't use the straps to adjust (tighten) the cable path when it started to stretch. Left with this. Does anyone know if the top can be saved at this point - and who I might take it to for R&R (I'm on the west coast, close to San Francisco). Balance of top is in great condition... Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Bummer! It would have taken little effort to protect the top from that. I don't know exactly who I could take it to for a seamstress type repair, but almost anything is possible with fabric if you can just find the person with the skills. I guess a good starting point is asking for advice from convertible top specialists?

POST 3Original post

I'm thinking that might not be saved, as I think the part that is torn isn't fabric but more of a rubber channel. Fingers crossed for you!

POST 4Original post

If you're near Kansas City, MO, try North Kansas City Auto Trim. Ask for Harold. They're great and Harold (owner) is a perfectionist. Good luck!

POST 5Original post

Thanks Joe as mentioned I'm out in California.

POST 6Original post

Correct. It's a vinyl/rubber piece. Going to try and have an upholsterer commit to attempting to cut the bad part out and sew in a new bit of material there. Fingers crossed, IF I can find someone...
