It's worth checking the switch on the brake pedal to try to sort the brake lights out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Chaps, I thought it was my LED rear tail lights, so I have reverted back to the stock set-up- no luck. My brake lights work intermitently - I have checked the fuses, they are ok, and all the bulbs are working fine (fog, driving lights, reverse indicator). I have also checked all of the high level brake lights- they are all working fine. For some reason the brake lights work sometimes, when the pedal is half depressed- but switch off when fully pressed (sometimes). I confused, and I have no idea whats happening :frustrated: :wack: O and my horn is constantly going off since I changed the steering wheel- I have pulled out the fuse for now. Voltage is 12volts. Thanks, Kam

POST 2Original post

The horn and the brake lights are two separate issues by the sound of it. It's worth checking the switch on the brake pedal to try to sort the brake lights out. It's awkward to get to but this info should help from http://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...LEC-Pedal_Switches/93-ELEC-Pedal_Switches.htm Here's a photo of the brake pedal switch (green arrow). Simply unplug the harness, twist the switch, and then remove it from the chassis. The lower left inset photo shows the brake and cruise control switches together. The only difference between these two is the color of the housing.

POST 3Original post

Now you describe it like that, it sounds like a coincidental brake switch failure. http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=55456

POST 4Original post

It might just need the plunger setting. Remove the switch by turning 1/4 turn (like Ian says). Then pull the plunger all the way out, and refit the switch. If you have one of the old black switches, it is worth changing it for one of the new brown ones anyway. They are less than £10.

POST 5Original post

The horn going off randomly could be the insulation grommets have split, or didn't go on properly when you refitted the wheel.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the detailed answers chaps- very impressed with the knowledge. I will spend tonight trying out the fixes mentioned above and report back. Thanks, Kam

POST 7Original post

Had a similar problem with the horn, the rubber grommets had perished so I replaced the plate for about £35. TB

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the gromit advice. If I need one, I take it is a Porsche only part? And is it something they will likely know what I am asking for, or do I need the specific part number etc? Cheers, Kam

POST 9Original post

I doubt you would get one anywhere other than an OPC or breakers. Any porsche dealer will know the part. The grommets are moulded onto the plate. TB

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, Thanks for the all the help- the brake lights are now sorted. A new brake light switch sorted it. I have not had a chance to check the steering wheel bushes- thats this weeks task. Cheers, Kam
