Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Novice so go gently Ok, one month into ownership of my first Porsche (C4) and not missing the Volvo V40 I left behind - Now that was an interesting negotiation with the misses to swing that one..... Anyway have read thread after thread on exhaust upgrades. Sounds like the PSE is fantastic but v expensive. Having just dented all savings with the purchase can someone advise if the Sports and Classic £299 + VAT bypass is a) worth it for a change in sound b) how much does the exhaust note actually change c) is it legal and lastly d) does someone else nearer Surrey come with the forums recommendation. Appreciate any info

POST 2Original post

Hello and welcome, a) I think the exhaust bypass mod is definitely worth doing b) the sound changes enough to make the car sound like a proper sports car, deeper and more throaty over 3,000 revs c) yes d) try Hayward & Scott just round the M25 from Surrey

POST 3Original post

a) worth it for a change in sound YES! - Just like PSE - about 103 dB - watch vid/listen to clips on 911UK link below. b) how much does the exhaust note actually change YES! - Just like PSE - about 103 dB - watch vid/listen to clips on 911UK link below. c) is it legal YES! - Just like PSE - about 103 dB - watch vid/listen to clips on 911UK link below. d) does someone else nearer Surrey come with the forums recommendation. POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the speedy replies, looks like a trip to H & S then. Also still awaiting the handbook so have DIY'd most buttons etc but can you confirm both windows have one touch down, but only the driver side has one touch up? Thanks again - off for another drive just for the sake of it soon

POST 5Original post

Both have one-shot operation up and down. The sensors may have lost their limit settings. To teach the window sensors where to stop: Continuously holding the down rocker, lower the window fully. Release the switch and then press the down rocker again and hold for a second and release again (this sets the lower limit). Then raise window fully by continuously holding the up rocker button, hold for a fraction longer than top stop. Release the switch and then press the up rocker again and hold for a second and release again (this sets the top limit). They should now work correctly. The same can be done on sunroof limits if required.

POST 6Original post

Taking my life in my hands to appear to disagree with someone of GT4's standing on here, but I'm pretty sure one-touch window close on passenger side does vary by model/age. My 996.2 (04 Targa) does not have one touch close on the passenger side. Don't ask me why, but Porsche in their wisdom apparently made that change at some point. What model/age do you have? H

POST 7Original post

It may have had the passenger one-shot disabled for "H&S". Although, I think this can be re-enabled using PIWIS/PST2. AFAIK there is no mechanical reason stopping it from one-shot.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

GT4: Tried your well explained method but it seems that sense has gone over to the dark side as couldn't get passenger window to obey your law. Thanks for trying. Model 53 C4.

POST 9Original post

My 03 C4S doesn't have passenger side one touch close either. I thought that was the norm.

POST 10Original post

Oh well, Health and Safety strikes again! For a while this was a convention for Japanese and US models. I guess that "fashion" has moved on again, to full one-shot. Possibly due to more sensitive, erm, sensors to stop you chopping the hand of your passenger off.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
