I was going to get a set of the standard silver/black ones for these wheels (which replaced my 19"s), when I popped in the black ones, I liked the look so much I just forgot about getting any new ones.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i'm not looking for an argument just trying to explore other points of view. for me, i only miss a narrow body on narrow roads or bad parking spots that i shouldn't choose anyway. i believe the wider base enhances grip on corners and haven't noticed aquaplaning even in summer thunderstorms. i also enjoy the look of big hips from the back! like raquel welch or sofia loren!

POST 3Original post

The wide body has a higher level of drag. Should not make a difference in regular driving but would start to slow things down as speed increases. Also a wider body uses more sheet metal and would weigh more. They do have the advantage of being able to fit wider tires into the fenders. I suppose it would be a personal preference... I love the wide body look, especialy in the 993 chassis.

POST 4Original post

Depends what you are doing... in autocross narrower is better, less distance to shift the vehicle. I think most people simply like the narrow look. I would have considered a C2S if it existed.

POST 5Original post

one of my favourite sights is looking in the wing mirrors and seeing body flare out. its is one of the only cars in the world where u get that view

POST 6Original post

I think I can take credit for using this phrase when the C4S's started coming out and everyone was going ga-ga over them. RUF likes them. I like them because I wanted a Cab. I think they're sleeker looking and provide sufficient grip for whatever I'm ever going to do. I asked someone before. The Wide-body is 60MM wider than the narrow-body...that's like less than 2 1/2 inches...so that's an inch and a quarter per side. Narrow-bodies do rule (we are in the majority), and out butts aren't that bad looking either!

POST 7Original post

Sorry, this is a later pic...same butt, different logo!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

don imo all 911's are beautiful. the wide bodies however are even sexier. as the french would say: "vive la difference"

POST 9Original post

Sorry for the intrusion into the 996 forum - but undoubtedly there WILL be a C2S shortly.... Here's my argument for the widebody look But I have to agree - ALL 911's are beautiful. Regards, Ben

POST 10Original post

Narrow or Wide, I like them all but my favorite rear view is....................... This one is the king Bocky '02 Carrera C2 coupe

POST 11Original post

Ok, here's a narrow body rear - It's a 993 though...hope you guy's don't mind...

POST 12Original post

Gee Bocky, this one didn't open for me either. The next pic from Oleg did tho!

POST 13Original post

Ever since Porsche introduced the Turbo at the Paris auto show in October 1974, many have been fascinated with the look. IMHO the early 930s look best because they really accentuate the muscular look. The later models, 993 upwards, less, because the narrowbody car has become wider. RUF traditionally prefers the narrowbody due to the lesser drag factor since he wants high top speed figures. Remember his first killer car, the CTR (nicknamed "Yellow Bird", based on the Carrera 3.2 chassis and equipped with a 500 twin turbo)? What I find helps narrowbody cars look wider is to lower the suspension!

POST 15Original post

For Pete's sake! We're talking about 2.5 inches. Those that think 2.5" are meaningful, have themselves convinced that it is really six inches

[quote]Originally posted by Bob Lindberg: For Pete's sake! We're talking about 2.5 inches. Comes down to personal preference...for me, narrow body 993's look more symmetrical (sorry, can't comment on 996's because I've only seen one or 2 4S's... )

POST 18Original post

993RS do you have any more pictures you couldpost?Your car is beautiful!

POST 20Original post

Personally I've never liked the wide body look when theres no wing back there. I'd admit that from behind its not bad, but from the front the added wide reminds me of a duelly pickup truck. The color seems to make a huge difference as well, some colors make the acar look fat-assed while others make it look curveous. and my bro's: Not the best butt shots, but heck...I just like to look 'em anyway

POST 21Original post

Hey RJay...what kind of center caps do you have on the car in your pic above? Also, your bro's car is the best looking red Porsche I've seen.

POST 22Original post

They are actually the caps that came with my car originally. Black with gold crest. I was going to get a set of the standard silver/black ones for these wheels (which replaced my 19"s), when I popped in the black ones, I liked the look so much I just forgot about getting any new ones. Works well with a black car.
