Suggestion

The oil analysis report from my first oil change was clean across the board (except that it indicated lower viscosity than 0W40, but I don't know what the previous owner had in there).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Long-time listener, first-time caller here. This morning I noticed a ticking coming from the right side of my new to me ‘07 Boxster S . It’s not audible on the drivers side or from the tailpipes. The fan near the vent on the passenger side of the car is not running. I’m hoping this video can help me get some insight. Thanks, everyone.

POST 2Original post

Sounds entirely normal to me. That's injector tick you're hearing.

POST 3Original post

Thanks. Living in Montana, there are not many of these cars and far fewer experts who know what "normal" sounds like. I will continue listening and monitoring.

POST 4Original post

I like the sound , normal , Id be concerned if you heard a loud tick/rattle while in the car - then I would suspect water pump

POST 5Original post

Check the oil, watch for oil consumption and if you are consuming oil it’ll show on the rear bumper as soot

POST 6Original post

After only a few hundred miles, I have no noticeable consumption or soot. The oil analysis report from my first oil change was clean across the board (except that it indicated lower viscosity than 0W40, but I don't know what the previous owner had in there).

POST 7Original post

I had the same sound on mine, only louder. It was a faulty fuel injector. Replace it and sound was gone.

POST 8Original post

So I wonder is it then pulse you’re hearing? Maybe the pental cap is cracked and the pental is hitting it? Did they ever say?
