Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Ah yes, I have just put in H&R lowering springs in my 996.1 running 18's, and it does look much better with those without degrading the ride quality

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

I think 18's are a sweet spot for 996 / 997 / Boxster / Cayman.  Comfortable ride, 19's the ride gets a bit hard, and 18's probably have the handling advantage / tyre availabilityover the 17's

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting that the 18s increase the wheel gap by 10mm . Lowering springs might be required

POST 4Original post

If the profiles are correct then the rolling diameter should be the same and the wheel gap should also be the same.  Maybe the suspension hasn’t settled.

Shouldn't be the case as long as the tyre sizes are correct. Perhaps it's been in the air for a bit and needs to settle. Looks-wise, out of the two, the 18s look best but the car would also benefit from a slight drop. I've got Eibachs on mine and very happy with the lack of wheel gap.

POST 7Original post

Definitely 18s. Tyre choice for the track is excellent such as A050s or Z221s, amongst many others.

+ Dunlop Direzza Z3's, loved them on my 6.1 GT3, and good for the road too

POST 9Original post

Or the Dunlop DZ03G for a more hardcore track/Tarmac tyre. On my wish list to try but a bit pricey.
