As I said earlier this is a awesome sound and I also fitted a K&N induction kit and had the car map changed to a revo version which has given the car improved power in the mid range which makes it more fun to drive.

Suggestion

Ive just ordered a set from Oettle on Monday, they arrived today, brand spanking new, with by pass mod, cost me 406 pounds delivered, i beleive the mod will cost you in the region of 350 for your old exhaust to be modded, in my eyes better to spend another 50 quid, you then have a brand new set of mufflers and your std ones to either sell, keep and put back on or use as spares if you ever need to..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello.. I am looking at putting a new exhaust back box on my C4S in the next month or so and have seen this advert on ebay. I would like some opinion and feedback for this. Thanks V. Much. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-Carre...60199138?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM Rus.

POST 2Original post

I believe these are standard boxes with a bypass pipe welded in. It is similar to the PSE except that it has no control valve so will be permanently 'open'. You will also see them described as 'Oettle' back boxes, another company that performs this mod. If you currently have standard back boxes which are in decent condition it will be far cheaper to get those modifed by someone like Hayward and Scott.

POST 4Original post

I bought that exhaust on ebay. I choose the 106 db version... and I am very happy with the outcome.. highly recommended...

POST 5Original post

What he said, much cheaper and exactly the same result.

POST 6Original post

"What he said, much cheaper and exactly the same result." true, but I sold my old exhaust, and in the end the difference was only 100 pounds...

POST 8Original post

When I had mine done the pound was in the toilet vs the euro (not that it's climbed much further than the rim today), so the equation was slightly different. Needing the mufflers removed and refitted professionally anyway (I don't have a lift and all the nuts had pyramided), the £250 I paid H&S was a bargain including all new nuts and bolts.

POST 9Original post

Yeah, that's an extra 50 quid, but for a shiny new exhaust sitting on your lounge floor. Don't forget to factor in cost of swapping them over - it's usually a pig of a job due to rusted bolts...

POST 10Original post

Exhaust's Hi rusharrison Just as an alternative for you to think about, I have just had a new set of Exhaust back boxes fitted that were made by DSD Motor works. It is made from stainless steel and has there version of the bypass pipe fitted but slightly differant internals in the main body of the back box. The result of this is a great sound from the Exhaust when the engine is pushed but still fairly quiet on tick over but a lot deeper sound. The boxes were sent to my local tuner who are a Milltek dealer to be fitted, and the garage owner Keith did give positive feedback on the quality of workmanship and welding of the boxes that had been sent. These Exhaust's are fitted to the redbull racing 911's and the Virgin 911's. As I said earlier this is a awesome sound and I also fitted a K&N induction kit and had the car map changed to a revo version which has given the car improved power in the mid range which makes it more fun to drive. I hope this gives you another choice to think about as the right sound those become addictive! Gaz

POST 11Original post

Whats a reasonable labour time to be charged to remove old and fit new mufflers? My local indie wants £140, seems a :?: lot to me? _

POST 12Original post

Realistically you are looking at 1 man hour of labour to remove and refit. And that is assuming no pyramided nuts to be sawn off etc. As I said, £250 to remove, mod and refit with new nuts and bolts at H&S was a bargain. It took two techies an hour to turn around.

POST 13Original post

Original exhausts though very rusty and starting to come apart will wait till they start leaking before replacement
